Question Speaker Choices

I am thinking of either installing either Focal 130HC (5 1/8) in the front and Focal 165HC (6 ½) in the back.
Or
Infinity KAPPA572.5CF (5x7) in the front and Infinity KAPPA63.5I (6 ½) in the back.

Considering that there are individuals on the board which have installed these into their vehicles I am hoping to get a good consensus on which be more worthwhile to get.

I will also be getting these through www.onlinecarstereo.com.

So any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Also because the pocket in front is a 5x7 would a 5 1/8 fit well in that area?

Or should I get the Kappa fronts and Focals in the back. The reason why I am staying away from this is because many boards have recommended staying with the same brands for both front and backs.

Re: Speaker Choices

i haven't heard either but typicaly infinity can handle more of a beating and the focal is better SQ in a propper system.
I pwersonaly would never buy a focal product through the internet though.

I know that it is kind of sketch to buy this online...but considering that the amount of savings. I am willing to try it out, especially considering that I can probably spend the same amount on ebay...and play roulettee that way.

Longivity wise...what do people think? Should I get an amp to run these speakers?

yes, a headunit doesn't have enogh power to properly drive either speaker to high perfomance levels.

For fronts I am bridging a JL audio 300/4, which partly replaced my Xtant X604 (for sale), to a set of MB Quart QM 218.61Q 6 1/2 components in custome kick panels.
No rears untill I get my JL 300/2 for the fronts.

So you have the MB Quarts in the Kick Panels...

Do you have any experience with these 2 products from them? And if you can provide me some opinions on them....

MB Quart DKD 157 (5x7)

MB Quart DKD 116 (6 1/2)

Or should I stick with my first 2 suggestions. Curious though...would the 5 1/8 drop in pretty well in the 5x7 drop ins?

Unless you using a 5x7 you'll need a custom adapter plate and/or custom install. Nothing major just an hours worth or so.

I have never used the DKD, they seem OK but for the price the JL TRs and VRs smack them up. I liked the lower kicker stuff too.

I will take a look at them when I stop by our local stereo place. Hopefully they have some items that I can use to test out some speakers.

Nice to see that you are still around...what happened to you onehawaiian?

The Focal's are awsome, but I really can not justify the cost, unless I am going to go into competition with my car.

So I will probably go with the Infinity due to cost and ease of drop in.

I have JL XR components and I love them, even thought I've been giving them only 50w of crappy power, but in a month or so they'll be powered by 75w of pure phoenix gold power, I'm giddy as a school girl .
