Simple tint question
I wanted to know what exactly does this mean:
"All vehicles shall not have a luminous reflectance of more than twenty percent (20%). Luminous reflectance is defined as the ratio of the amount of total light that is reflected outward by the product or material to the amount of total light falling on the product or material.
Windshield-sunscreen may not extend more than five inches (5") from the topmost portion of the windshield, may not be red or amber in color and must be transparent.
Front side windows--must have at least forty percent (40%) light transmission.
Side windows behind driver--must have at least twenty-five percent (25%) light transmission.
Rearmost glass--must have at least twelve (12%) light transmission.
Label--must be affixed by installer to the lower right corner of the driver's side window; must not exceed one and one-half inches (1 1/2") square in size; must be installed between the glass and the sunscreen material; and must contain the name and city of the sunscreen installer."
When the say 40% light transmission, does this mean 40% tint or 60% tint? Same goes for 25%, 25% tint or 75% tint? 12% or 88%?
This may be a stupid question, but I dont know jack about tint!
While im at it, what brand of tint do you recommend?

hmmmmmmm........... is any tint scatch resistant besides a factory tint?
40% tint is actually 40% light transmission, so it's confusing. the tints are listed this way always i believe. so a 70% tint would be very light and a 5% tint would be VERY dark.... so on and so forth.

40% VLT (Visible light transmission) or light transmission is just that, 40% shaded, not 60%. the lower the %age, the darker the film. 5% = Limo 40% = very light.
I suggest you stay away from Sungard, FAR AWAY.
All films have a scratch resistant coating, this does not mean fido or fluffy can attack the little fly on the outside of the glass and the film will resist...NOPE! but it does resist everyday up and down motion.

I have a shop about 2 min from my work that does tinting, but they use Sungard. If this is not a good brand to go with, what do you recommend me use? Do you happen to know anyone in the New Orleans area that does tinting?
