i've been on this board before trying to find out to install the mp3 sidemarkers on an 02 protege, and i finally found someone to do it. i have a new question now.

it seems as though there is a cable that plugs into the rear of the lights. the shop that can do it said the cable would be nice for them to have, but when i call the mazda dealership, i have to order an entire front headlight setup for an 03 protege, which seems a LITTLE bit much...i don't really want to pay 400 dollars for that.

does anyone know how the lights can be wired into the existing assembly? can the current wire just be spliced and and attached to the sidemarkers?

radioshack has vampire clips. these clips bite into the existing wire for connectivity without having to do any splicing. if you had the tools and the patience, i'd recommend you do it yourself and save a whole lot of money. here's a link that you may find helpful:

i have a how-to on my site for sidemarkers. not for you specific car, but if you have any other questions, i'd be happy to help.

yes, the sidemarkers can be spliced into the existing wires.

I do NOT recommend the use of T-Taps or vamire clips (never heard that term before) scotch locks or any other plastic connector. I always recommend soldering all connections for the best possible connection you can get.
