Recaro MX3 seats for 1st gen

I was reading Wil's post about putting the MX3 OEM Recaro seats into his 1st gen ....

Wil, or anyone else who's ever done this,

I understand that the seats are about 1" lower than the oem 1st gen seats. This could be a problem for me since I'm only 5'8". I already feel a little low in the car as it is. However, I thought I read something about pulling over the rails from the original seats and putting them on the MX3 seats. Is this possible, and will it retain the original height of the the original seats? I've got a line on a couple seats for $150 and I want to buy them. My current driver's seat bottom is pretty shot - not much cushion left.

Hmm, I don't know, tell me if you have problems getting your old bolts out though. I tried and I guess they're just stuck in there too well after nine or ten years. You can cut them out, but I want to be sure I have the replacements first before I tried that myself. Yeah and I'm not terribly tall or anything, so I don't want to feel like a midget behind the wheel if I do this swap

I got a big ol copper pipe to wrap around the ratchet handle, that worked for the front ones, but the rear bolts kinda got torn up instead of moving. I made a thread somewhere in here about it. But yeah I haven't put a serious effort into it for right now, I'll try again later.

I got screwed over when I ordered my mx-3 seats, they were the seats for the lower-end mx-3, but they still have much better latteral support than my stock 323 seats. Yes, it sits really low even with the stock seatrails. I'm about 5'8" as well, and I seriously have a tough time almost seeing over the wheel! I'm used to it now though. Driving my protege is like driving a truck! hahaha....

Well, from what I've been told on the MX-3.com forum, I need the seats out of a 92-93 RS or GS. I'm concerned about the low thing, however. Maybe I need to look for better Pro seats. My driver's seat is like one of the nappy motel beds with worn out springs!
