Rear door speaker polarity

In my MP5 both my rear door speaker wires are pink and yellow/blk. I forgot the polarity when i took of the factory adapters. I saw a post from someone in Canada and I think there wires are different colors than our. I am pretty sure pink is negative and yellow/blk is pos.. Am I right? Anyone who know please respond.

pink -
yellow/blk +

Well, this is too late for you, but just for the record... I can confirm that on my car's right rear speaker, the pink is indeed negative, and the yellow/black is positive.

Hey, alright!

Checking speaker polarity once they're all wired is pretty easy: you can just reverse the wires on ONE speaker out of a pair, and see which gives you the best bass response. When speakers are out of phase, some of the bass frequencies get reduced or even cancelled out due to destructive interference.

DUDE!!! My major bad -- I had reversed the order when I was typing my first post in this thread. I was confirming YOUR original post: pink is negative, yellow/black is positive!!!!! I edited the post so it reads correctly now.

Sorry about that! I was thinking "why would he want to fix it, if he already got it right?"

Yellow & black is positive, just like my car...

I haven't tried it, but are you able to take a meter and hook it up to the speaker wire while playing music and see which is getting negative?
I was just curious if this would work.

The only way to do that would be to take a snapshot (i.e., freeze the scope) for TWO speakers at once (or the speaker in question and the raw source material, like a preamp out), and then compare the two to see if they're out of phase with each other. But if you're just watching the scope on one speaker, there's no way to tell. And if you're listening to just one speaker, there's no way to tell either, because there's nothing for it to be "out of phase" with!

LOL just connect the factory adapter to your OEM speaker and the + and - is written on the speaker. trace back the wire and you will know right there

Yep! That's what I did. Though after removing the factory speaker, I did follow up with a continuity check to the speaker wires at my power amp just to make sure the whole "chain" was correct.

I think all the discussion after that was just hypothetical, not proposed solutions specifically for the pink & yellow/black question. I mean, hey, you're taking the fun out of breaking out the oscilloscope!
