IS anyone gonna make a hood that has vents in it, i want to go for the Evo rally look, and i like the vented look better then the straight carbon fiber look. DG has a hood that has an opening in it. They call it a "RAM AIR" hood, I think. Basically it has an opening over the air filter.

do the hot rod treatment....take your METAL hood to a reputable shop and have it louvered!

have you ever seen an old hotrod with VENTS right in the hood...I mean right in the metal....little vents are PUNCHED into the hood...actually cutting the metal on one side and lifting it....the louvers can be made in many different sizes...and they are put in rows and columns....looks cool as hell...and does the job.

Just a poll

How many people didnt know what louvered! meant im hoping not that many ??? Nuke we may have to educate a few youngsters (no not everyone) as to the terminology of us OLD hotrodders LOL

If your gonna do something... do this!! but get it done right its probbably going to cost some Bling Bling but this will look better than a scoop IMHO

I actually went to look for a picture to post up with that last post of mine...but got side tracked and didn't have a GOOD picture handy....so I just blew it off.....

for SHOW cars...or cars that are only driven on pretty days....you do nothing....

however....for the daily driver what you would do is fassion a piece to attach to the UNDER SIDE of the hood that would keep water from dripping down where you wouldn't want it, while still allowing air flow into and out of the engine compartment, OR cover the things you wouldn't want getting wet...such as your battery.

louvering isn't for everybody....its very expensive to have done correctly.....not to mention...its NOT reversible, well...it is...but that means replacing your hood.

The WRX scoop feeds the intercooler for the turbo....which is mounted on TOP of the motor...well just to the aft of it anyway.

Yes - so what about the avg daily driver that buys a wrx but doesn't guard any of the components under the hood? Does the water just splash onto the intercooler and get steamed off, or would it get all over the place? Don't even know why I'm asking. Not like I have a wrx or anything..

I wash my engine bay regularly with a full-strength garden hose, and down at the mazda dealer I used to work at, we used a 2500 PSI pressure washer under the hood with no problems. All of the major components are shielded against water, so you need not worry about the others.
