I may get an amp down the road for the speakers, so the power of em are a little concideration right now. But if I can get the Cadence with more power, and higher sensitivity and better recommendations by people around here, for around the same price, then why not go with those? hehe

It is starting to make sense to me.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P 7400MP deck and am running some MTX 6932 in the back(6x9s) off the HU and stock speakers in the front. I have a sony class D 1000watt amp running 2 10 inch rockford subs.

Now I have enough bass and the MTXs do good filler in the back. I would like to get some better-than-stock-without-breaking-the-bank front speakers to replace the stock ones. I was told I could replace the 5x7s by 6.5s. I dont mind doing that, I want to know how I can pick really good speakers that dont need too muchb power. i was told that components wouldnt be worth it cause I wouldnt be delivering enough power to them. Can anyone help?

Last question, how do I find out RMS power for my speakers and amp and HU? People on this board always seem to know, but I don't know where to get that info. Most the time only MAX power is written on the box of the stuff I have. Oh, and while Im at it, how can you tell if a speaker is more sensitive than an other?

would you guys recommend the U.S. Acoustics for a 4-way amp (just for the speakers)? All the factory speakers have crumbled away.

Up front I have Kenwood KFC-1677s, back, nothing right now, sometimes I jury rig some sonys from my 3 CD player, they work well.

Actually I think I might have messed up one of the KFC-1677s. I turned it up real loud on the HU (some panasonic CD player, 20W RMS). Now the blue (cone?) of the speaker seems to vibrate too much and it makes this horrible buzzing noise, it stops if I hold it down a little. Anybody know what it is? The guy at circuit city said all the electronics are okay, he checked them on his meter or something.

Sorry for the OT I am a real newbie when it comes to this stuff, hehe, thanks.

I did finally order the Pioneer REV 6.5 speakers, and hope to get them today.

I had gone to the NOPI event down here in Atlanta and it was awesome. I was able to listen to Pioneer's stuff, and also tons of other brands.
They had tons and tons of stuff going on everywhere, it was great!

I had went inside the JL Audio car they had there, and thought that had the best sounding system I had heard. Yeah there definitely were alot louder systems there, but the JL car seemed to actually sound the best, and it definitely was loud.
So I am now thinking of getting a 12 inch or 15 inch JL sub for my car. I would love to get one of their amps too, but they are just way over my price range at $300.00 (thezeb.com).
Thezeb.com sells the 15W0-4 15 inch sub for $140. Which I am concidering. The only thing now is to find a enclosure for that sub which is the hard part.

I am also looking at Ultimate Sound PSB1200, which is a enclosure and the sub together, for only $110 (thezeb.com). Now that is pretty cheap, and that is perfect for my price range, especially since it includes the sub and the box.
That is what I may end up doing, just because it seems hard to find a well priced enclosure for a sub. And I could just get this and be done with it.

Cya!

Pioneers are always good for the money. Good choice. Can't really go very wrong with that price.

Dude, the Ultimate Sound subs are great! I have a PS10 and it sounds awesome for the price! Not really loud, but good SQ. I would have gotten the PSB1000 if i don't already have an enclosure.

For sub amps, check out the JBL BP600.1 amps. Again, great bang for the buck, and it can drive 2 ohm speakers.

chastan, your amp should be fine. as far as "jury riggin'", hehe, well i wouldn't do that too often. rear fill is not necessary.

as for that rattliing sound, could have been dislodged?

I have a US Acoustics amp (not sure of the model number, it is a 4x80W amp) running my fronts (JBL Power) and sub (Kicker solobaric - the original one) in my VW Cabriolet. I have not had any problems with the amp, and I find it plenty powerful for what I am using it for, plus the crossover section on the one I got is nice. I also have a set of line outs from this amp to an old Alphasonik amp (same company as US Acoustics these days as I understand it BTW) running my rear fill (MB Quarts I pulled from my other car. I would swap the fronts and rears but that takes effort). The nice thing about the 4 channel amp is that the line out can be crossed over, so I have a high pass on my rear fill like my fronts to keep the low frequencies out of my little 4 inch speakers.

If you like the amp and it is your price range, I would not avoid it. Be sure to check out the other recommendations made in this thread as well though, as the guys here seem to speak from a lot of experience.

Dale.

I think it might have to do with one of the little silver wires that runs through to the tweeter. If i pull on it gently while it's playing, the speakers seem to work normally more or less. Probably it's a little loose and when the speaker gets pumpin' it starts to vibrate against the cone, and make a lot of noise. I'll take a look at it some more sometime, but right now I am pretty busy
