biknjman>>> well now it looks like frosty apparantly had problems at the drags yesterday as can be seen from this quote...as you may recall his car was the guneia pig for the unifilter rampod..which he's had fitted since...well here is what was being said by him

<<How does totally fried hotwire air sensor sound?
******* pod filter is now going to Simsmetal for re-release as a Hyundai.Foam filter oil all over the sensor, wire gets clogged, shorts out & melts, engine leaning out,On the way home can't get past 4000rpm.
get 3ks from home now won't idle, electrical smell coming into the car.
I'm totally freaking.Take it too the workshop this morning, takes five hours of diagnostics to work it out.$290.00 later & the car is ripping along.Mate,it must have been going for a while 'cause the car feels now like it never felt before!!!I've gone back to the factory airbox with the K&N filter, works heaps better.Anyway as I said I'm not complaining,I just wish it had happened a week ago,but as the mechs said,Hot weather finally killed it!!!!>>

The skinny on the BLT turbo manifold deal

Proteges,

Check out this thread for infoamtion on the turbo manifold deal: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...turbo+manifold

BLT is only doing the 1.5L right now. Soon they will be working on the 1.6L. Here is what Branden from BLT wrote me in regards to a the manifolds:
David,
The 1.6L Manifold will be coming shortly, after the 1.5L design is complete we
will start another group buy for the 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0L motors. Deposit is
$200 when we confirm 5 participants.
Keep in touch,
Braden
turboge@yahoo.com
tresdos3,
I know your half-way around the world from us but are you interest in a Carbon Fiber Hood for your Protege? We need two more 99-00 Proteges to get in on the deal so we can get them made. If we don't get two more Porteges in on the deal we'll more than likely never see a Carbon Fiber Hood for the 99-00 Proteges. Here is the link with the info on the deal: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...5&pagenumber=1 .
Also could you post and or pass this info on the the Porteges down under?

Thanks Mate,
David

Any more pics?

YANGU23,

Thanks

Finally I get my request fulfilled!

Thanks, YANGU23. That’s what I had originally requested when I stated this tread is pic of the Mazdaspeed bumper:

Come on Cork Sport, daddy needs his MS bumper and skirts. Hopefully they'll be here soon and I'll have them on the car by 1st of May for Carlisle. I already have a body shop lined up for the paint job I'm having done once I've installed the bumper and side skirts.

Re: Finally I get my request fulfilled!

Biknman,
Did you get the Corksport copies or the true MazdaSpeed parts? If you got the Corksport copies as I did, be prepared for some additional prep work before you can paint. Also, Corksport ships them through Yellow freight for a significant additional charge that Ben forget to mention. They also don't pack them very well if they are shipped together, as one of my side skirts was damaged in shipping. Good luck though.

Hmmmm.. the mazdaspeed bumper looks so nice in that Japanese picture.. its really modest yet agressive.. very very very nice...

I need a new front bumper cover soon so it's definitely in consideration (might as well have it done at the same time as undoing the 15 something dents and quarter panel indentations my car has from rough urban city life ..

Eric F.. I too would be a little disappointed on the corksport kit not completely prepped and ready to go out of the box, especially with the real MS pieces not that crazy-much more expensive..

Biknman.. I CANT WAIT to see the kit if you have it on by Carlisle.. to see the real Japanese stuff in real life once and for all hehe..

Maybe I should start scoping out body shops to paint my Pakfeifer side skirts, and put those suckers on (they need prep work but it's not too bad..)

good luck

Hey Eric, what kind of 'additional prep work' are we talking about? Does the bumper not fit correct, does it need to be sprayed with that clear-coat crap or whatever they use before painting? Please shed some light on this for me (and the rest of us) please.

First, it's made from fiberglass. Almost any fiberglass piece will probably need prep before it can just be sprayed with paint. There are some high and low spots in the gel coat finish of the bumper. I assume a body shop would use some filler and block sand the entire bumper to smooth it out completely.

Cork Sport Mazdaspeed kit

Hay guys,

I'm getting the Cork Sport Mazdaspeed version bumper and side skirts. I expect to have to do some work to get them right and I expect to pay about $100.00 for freight.

Eric F, did you try to file a claim against the freight company for the damaged goods? Do have any pictures of the bumper and skirts on your ride?

If you guys have not seen it yet here is photos form Saturday AutoX of my Protégé in its current stage of moderation new wheels via Rishie.
Oh at the AutoX there where three Pros mine, ZOOMZOOMH, and a fellow from southern VA.

Yeah, I got the money back from Yellow freight for the damaged side skirt. I'm thinking about going with the MP3 side & rear skirts instead though. I haven't had the front bumper mounted yet, because I want to get them all painted at the same time.

Eric F,

That sucks; I hope mine come in OK. I'll prep the bumper and skirts, install them, and then go get them painted along with the rest car. I'm also shaving my antenna and rear emblems so I can get those areas painted at the same time.

That's a good idea. I've been driving around with two set of little holes on my trunk for too long.
