Photo and Rader License Plate Covers
Try speeding in my city, the cops have all sorts of ghost cars to nail you with, integra's, intrepids, beetles, impalas, explorers, tahoes, they even have a protege es sedan, this list goes on and on. Man, they will do anything to meet that quota.

Of course me being the pain in the *** I am "obtained" a Ka band radar gun and had him run a drive by @ 50 with the jammer off and I got what I would consider an accurate reading of 51mph.
Second and third pass with the jammer on I got a reading of 199mph and on the 3rd pass I got - - -. So I can vouch for the effectivness to some extent but i dont want anything telling the cops I am doing almost 200mph.

Ok, geez, use some common sense here.
Radar detectors not working? Hello?! Of course they work, and are WELL worth the money. When used with common sense they are practically 100% effective. You just need to know how to recognize a false alarm - it's REALLY easy, I can do it, so you can too.
Get a tob brand detector though, because they work like they say they do, whereas others - Phazer 'Jammer' and crap like that don't.
I also have a laser jamming device. Call me a moron all you want people, but at least I am a moron that gets away with speeding on the freeway and saves myself hundreds of dollars. I get away every time. The cops can't get a speed reading from me with a laser gun because I jam it, send it back as 0 km/k, then flick it off once I am going the speed limit, and NO TICKET.
Photo radar plates are illegal anywhere, and they don't work at all. Paint your liscence plate with a "glossy glossy glossy" clear coat or something similar and you should get away with them most of the time - provided you're at the right angle to the camera. And those laser plates don't work either. The only thing that works against a laser is a jamming device and there are only 2 manufacturers that make functional ones - Blinder M-10 and the K40 Laser Jammer.
Hope this helps. Flame on.....

I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii a while back, and the cops there just use their personal cars for patrol. The red light is on their dash, like that old show,"Baretta". You'll be speeding along minding your own business when you get pulled over by a lowered eclipse! It is sooo hard to tell who's a cop.
Unless you grew up there and know everyone, don't bother speeding, 'cause you'll get caught. Radar Detector or not.

One ask to see the speed on his radar gun or laser
Two ask to see the latest Calabration. If memory serves me right they have to CAL them eveyday, and lets face it. Most cops are lazy and wait till the end of the day to fill out the log.
Three check his paperwork, make sure he wrote your info down right, IE DL #, plate Number, car color......
Take this info how you want, but I know how all of this stuff works. I use to use it everyday. I worked military law enforcement for about 4 years. I have moved on to bigger and better things, but its like riding a bike. You just don't forget this stuff.
Joe, I dont doubt you know your stuff so I wont argue with you. You made some very good points there, and I was wrong on a few things I said. The glossy, ya your right it would make it worse.
My laser jammer DOES work though, 100%. My radar detector has never failed me, and since getting these devices I am yet to be caught speeding.
Your tips though, great tips. I knew about those already and have used them against the poilce many times. Gotta love a lazy cop who thinks he's something!
Anyways, yeah, RDs are not 100% but what I meant was that they aren't as bad as some think. I know where all the flase spots are here in town, and even when I am outta town I can spot a false alarm. They follow a pattern.
To that dude in Hawaii, that sucks man. It's like in Japan where they use Skylines as chase vehicles - heh, good luck getting away!

Wow...moron...big word. Did your daddy teach you that? 1. I only stated he uses a jammer. 2. Looks like you are one of those (I always follow the rules, little crybaby types)
The ones who are afraid of getting caught doing something. and 3. Like your opinion matters anyway

I don't think you need to go on being an immature brat insulting that guy over his own opinion. Message boards are meant for posting opinions, and people are free to them. That being said, you are too, but there's no need to bash him for that. Just respect he is a different person than you and move on.

There still a few things wrong in this thread...
I just went to the class to be certified in Radar and Laser for speeding. Somethings you should know are:
The laser is 3.5' square at 1000'...In other words, it is very small as compared to radar which is about 210' wide and 1000'. The only way ot "jam" radar or laser is by sending a stronger signal back to the unit. Radar jammers work well at this, however they are against the law because it is illegal to have anything that transmits a signal like that. The FCC will be all over your *** for that.
A laser jammer works, but it send a class three laser back at the unit for a short period of time. If you know anything about lasers you know that class three can harm someone. Nothing quite like doing laser eye surgery while driving. The laser that the unit emits is only a class one, or safe laser.
Both radar and laser send the wave and laser (respectively) at the speed of light, so as mentioned previously, unless they have the unit constantly going, a detector won't help you.
Check your local state law on this, but in Colorado, it is not a requirement to show the driver anything. If I get someone on radar/laser for speeding and they ask to see it, I don't have to show them. I can, but it is at my discretion. I was taught to not "lock" in the speed, and so I wouldn't have anything to show them anyway. Case law once again says that a traffic stop is not a miranda stop, and therefore I don't have to show the driver anything. However if I choose too, that only strengthens my case (or the officer's), as now he just showed you the proof that you were speeding.
The radar unit should be tested before and after each stop with a tuning fork. A laser only needs to be tested once a day.
An officer can not "calibrate" a radar/laser unit as that implies that the officer somehow can open the unit and fiddle with it. Case law has determined that an officer does not need to know the inner workings of a radar/laser unit and therefore cannot "calibrate" it.

.....in general. Any jamming device ANYWHERE as far as I know if illegal. I would have a radar jammer too, but the Ka band is hard to jam, so short of a military jammer the ones on the market now wont work for that.
You're right about the laser jammer though, partially. When the laser jammer sends the signal back, the laser gun just reads "???" so the officer has to assume he got a bad reading (YES, it can happen). Most times it takes 2-3 times to get an accurate reading, so they just have to keep trying when they see that.
I've used all types of speed deivces. I'm not a cop, I hate them in general for their attitudes thinking they're "God." I just know a few that let me play around with them, and then I can test my devices. With a laser gun, you have to hit a flat area, and a reflective one at that too (generally - most anything is reflective to laser) so you have to aim at the liscence plate or the flat spot on the front bumper.
My laser jammer probably does put out a class 3 laser, since it reads "DO NOT LOOK AT UNITS WHEN OPERATING." However, it would be very close to impossible to blind someone with them. WHY?
They would have to stare at the devices for a good length. Not only that, they are mounted LOW, in my bumper where the liscence plate should be. Not only that, no one can see them unless you REALLY look for them, so they wouldn't be looking there anyway.
I've been stopped once from a police officer when using my laser jammer. He wanted to know if I had a jamming device in my possesion because he was unable to attain my speed reading. I told him no, offered him to look for himself at my car. He couldn't do anything about it. Even if he saw them, he can't prove I am lieing.
All in all, within the argument of radar and laser, if it works then it's most likely illegal!
