Photo and Rader License Plate Covers

What do you guys think that is the best photo and rader license plate cover protector on the market place today? I don't have enough money for a full blow rader detection system so I need a quick solution for the time being.

Any help would be great

They've never worked. You're better off coating your front plate with clear nail polish, or take off your plate all together.

wtf?!?! Them ***** don't work. yo best radar detection systems is your eyes!! Second to a radar detector. lol When you speed, know the road your speeding on. Look at the cars ahead of you when driving. Know how to reconize undercover police vehicles. I've gotten away with alot of tickets just by lookin at the cars ahead of me.

I double that, know where you are, and know the cop cars in the area. Radar detector will only give more stress, and most of the time it false alarm anyway. I only speed where I can, and on a constant lookout for Crown Vics, and Impalas.

I respect that, and ofcourse, nothing beats (beside radar) your eye and thinking while you are driving
however....(you knew this was coming right )
I have seen on T.V reports(FOX) that those stuff sometimes work and they tested several of them products and some seem to work, HOWEVER they are illegal to use, in the state of VA anyway
Any comments or ideas?

i speed alot, i mean ALOT, infact i keep my lawyer in business. some of the plates work, on my bike (we have lots of cameras here in KC) i made a power antenna thing that with a flip of a switch my plate comes up and you cant see it, im goin to do that on my mazda also soon. but anyways, some work some dont. radar detectors are a crock, and fuzzbuster and even emitted radar phantoms are a crock. i got more tickets with the detector because i relied on that over my own eyes, i have had 120 mph in a 55 i have had a 100 in a 25 i even got a 190 on my bike in a helicopter, bastards, but my point is, once i stopped using that damn detector i have never got a ticket (knock on virtual wood) i can see a cop a mile away. trust your eyes and speed only on roads you can speed on, dont be stupid. (yeah i know what your all thinking, you got tickets and crap) but that was then with the detector and i was young stupid, but now im still young and no detector and still speed like a mo fo. PEACE- Trav

anything that reduces the reflective properties of any part on the front of your car is going to make it harder for a Laser to get a lock on that first shot...which sets your detector off and gives you at least a chance.

There is no magic plate to completely protect you from Laser. While a cover may make your front plate less reflective, your headlights are still exposed. It's not a question of "will they clock me" but rather "how soon can they clock me".

And watching ahead is good advice.
Problem with depending on that strategy is there's eventually going to be a time when some motorcycle cop is crouched in a bush with a Laser, picking people off from a 1/4 of a mile away. You won't see it coming

And forget anything like a plate to protect you from regular radar. completely different physics involved.

All the plates tested that I've read about (and actually work)are for photo radar. They obscure your license plate visually from anything but straight on. Most photo stands are on the side of the road, about 10-15 degrees off center. They clock you but can't read the plate numbers so don't know who to send the ticket to.

I'm glad we are talking about radar detectors cause I was about to buy one but after reading these post, they would be a waste of money. I'm just going to continue to use my eyes. The times I've gotten tickets is from being careless when it came to lookin out for cop cars. I'm in Va and the highway cops are SOOOOOOO stupid. Now they are driving Corvettes. " Will they ever learn " They make it so obvious. " Only Authorize Vehicles " If you live in Va then you know where to look for highway cops. Basically I'm assuming alot of cops hide out there. But the New Jersey Turnpike cops woooh hooh!!!! WATCH OUT FOR THEM! lol they clock people from the over head passway.

Even though its illegal, radar detectors in VA are necessary. They have saved my behind so many times. From my experience, it seems that VA doesn't really use laser, just you conventional speed gun radar. I just came from NC and back to MD. And going and coming I must have seen about 10 officers. My radar detector only missed one police car. I was lucky I wasn't speeding then, but it caught all the rest with enough time to let me slow down easily.

BTW, I travel at night.

The only time I have gotten a ticket was when my radar detector was off. Now I ALWAYS keep it on. When its illegal, I just turn on my VG2.

my thoughts exactly. ive owned my radar detector for almost two years and i have not gotten one ticket while it was on. i have turned it off before due to annoyance reasons, and low and behold, i get smacked with a ticket.

of course its always best to use your eyes as well. but what about those times when the pigs are behind something and you cant see them? theres no chance your eyes can pick them up. this is when a detector comes in handy.

if you really want to be safe, then spend the extra money on the Valentine 1 detection system. they are rated #1 in the industry and they have a guarantee. if you get caught speeding with there system in your car, they will pay your fine for you. you cant beat that with a stick...

just some food for thought.
