is it possible to paint sub enclosure carpet and not make it look like crap afterwards?

i want to get this sub enclosure i found at a local car audio store, the dimentions and other stuff fit my 2 clarion 10" pretty well, but it comes in a really ugly grey color which will clash with the pr5 trunk which is black. has anyone painted sub enclosure/trunk carpet?

I'd say dye it with the proper dye for carpet or, better yet - just buy a yard or two of cheap-*** black carpet and re-cover it yourself. You could go right over the gray, I would think, or even pull the gray off and re-cover the wood.

why don't you just re-carpet the thing? it shouldn't be too expensive if you do it yourself, check out sounddomain, they have a great selection.

If you paint it, itll look like crap IMO.
