P5 factory alarm, hatch sensor?

Does anyone here know if the hatch has a sensor for the alarm? When I put the alarm on, and unlock the passenger side door with the key and open it, the alarm is activated. But when I open the hatch with the key, nothing happens.

Does the factory alarm only have the horn as the "siren"? Can you add a horn or siren to the factory alarm?

What are some good ways to test out the alarm?

it may not be hooked up, since i beleive the factory alarms are merely dealer installed, not factory installed. You'll be able to hook up a wire to the light in the hatch area so the hatch will trigger the alarm. You'll then need to connect that wire to the alarm brain, it should be marked as what wire does what on the brain, as all regular codealarms do.

Had same problem. The factory alarm is hooked up to the doors switch which is not connected to the hatch. When i installed my clifford alarm i just connected the rear trunk light as hatch sensor. It works well.

sorry for my bad english !

i think we both just gave you your answer dude, all ya gotta do is run a new wire. The only mod needed is if the factory alarm does not have a dedicated input for the hatch, in that case, you simply connect the wire to the door trigger wire and add 2 diodes to isolate the circuits.

As I'm not an electrician, what size/type diodes do I solder to the door switch and new hatch wire?

I am not sure WHERE the alarms are installed...but not at the dealer itself...maybe at the point of entry.....I was right there when my car rolled off the truck....its not one I ordered....just happen to show up when I was at the dealer...and I liked it....I wanted a yellow specifically...and it came in while I was there..

ANYWAY... the alarm was already in the car when it showed up at the dealer.

if there is a dedicated trunk/hatch input, simply run a wire from the hatch light (which shows a change of voltage when the hatch opens) to the alarms input wire.

if there is no trunk/hatch wire, you'll need to add the 2 diodes (http://www.automediazone.com/pro/FAQ/mainpage.htm) the diodes are IN4002 1amp diodes. I have given detailed instructions a few times already in other threads, try a search or surf through this forum. If you can't find anything, i'll repeat myself again....
