I went to Lowes and grabbed some good ole gutter guard to make some grilles for the GTX bumper. It's a smaller mesh than the normal stuff...it's actually called gutter guard. Comes in 6" X 32" strips and costs a whoping $1.09 a peice...

I made cardboard templates first and then cut out the mesh. Cutting the holes for the fog lights proved to be quite a challenge....Once the bumper is finally painted ( ) they'll look better. I may decide to paint them black, but for now i'll see how this grows on me...

ok, so the gtx bumper looks good with mesh in it... but what about first gen bumpers dude? i've been looking, poking and proding, trying to figure out how to mesh up my bumper...and make it look nice...what would you suggest? you can see a good picture of my bumper in my signature. i was thinking of throwing the mesh on the back portion, but figured it wouldn't mount right, then i looked at the front, and there's no possible way to do it... any idea's guys?

cut out all the stuff thats there now or just the black parts and leave the main horizontal brace, you'll need to either fiberglass or bondo a few spots where the main brace joins the outsides. Then cut the mest like 1.5-2" larger all around, next, fold the edges to create a cup that conforms to the contour of the bumper opening (so if it wasn't mesh, it would hold water) the gutter guard i got at Lowes comes with 2 fasteners each, they clip to the mesh and then to the gutter, or in this case the bumper. They only cost $1.09 each peice of mesh, so a few bux to get a few extra fasteners is no big deal (or get creative with your shopping) mount the mesh from behind, paint as desired or leave as is.

 

Thats kinda what I've thought about doing, just cut out all the plastic and leave the big opening, even take out the horizontal piece. Then put mesh behind it.

 

Although it wasn't that easy doing it, I somehow managed to put mesh on the lower part of my bumper. It is very hard to see in my sig pic, but it's there. I have to find a better pic and post it so you can see what it looks like. I used two pieces (don't remember the size) and folded the edges just like Darryl suggested. I also relocated my front license plate so the edges where the two pieces meet are not visible at all. It looked very good when the mesh was nice and shiny. After about 9 months the initial clean and shiny look is now gone, but I still very much like how the mesh looks.
