No Justice to MazdaSpeed Protege

I was in the store and picked up the latest Car and Driver magazine and there were 3 inexpensive high performance sedans going head to head---MazdaSpeed Protege, Ford Focus SVT, and a Dodge Neon R/T. The Protege was last place to them. Their complaints about the radio was pathetic. They didn't like the small controls and all of the tweaking of the Kenwood MP3 player. I think it's a generous thing Mazda did putting a nice head unit as a factory stereo. FYI, the Focus was 2nd and the Neon 1st. No justice for the the MazdaSpeed Protege. The only disadvantage I could see is price-wise. It was the most expensive car of the three. I know the Focus is a decent ride from all the raves and reviews it gets, but a Neon? Sorry, but I just can't justify that! They need to redesign that thing! It's ugly as hell!

without reading I like my mazdaspeed, but I am not after a cheap cafe racer with lots of aftermarket parts like the neon.
The mazdaspeed is good at what it is...
The stereo is better than the spec V, I have played with both. At least the Mazdaspeed is stock Kenwood hardware an normal ohmage, read up on the rockford stuff nissan is using!

it probably was a srt-4.

i like sportcompactcars revew.

minicopper:small and different
svt focas:good handeling
MS protege:awesome handeling and stereo
srt neon:neon on major steriods

the srt neon will always win these comps. really good infinity stereo, pertty good cornering, and fast as hell(thats all they careabout)

the MSP will always be second on the reviews. awesome stereo, perfect handleing and just enough power to keep up with the cornering. the great thing about the mazda is that it is only running 6-8 lbs of boost, where as the neon is at 14. the mazda has alot of potential, just gona be pricey.

They complained about the stereo in the MP3 too. All these old guys that write for the mainstream car mags can't figure out how to use an aftermarket stereo. They can't see the small buttons with their bi-focals. They like big, easy to use idiot proof *****. They should remember that they aren't the target market.

It probably was the SRT4. I was thinking it was the R/T.
