new system question

ok everybody i'm going to be ordering my new system in about 3 weeks, so i'm wondering on a few things, here is what i'm getting
panasonic cq-df602u 175 bucks
infinity kappa 5.25 components 155 bucks
infinity kappa 6.5 3-way coaxial 110 bucks
infinity kappa perfect 10" 140
(3)jbl p180.2 130 bucks apiece.... 2 are for the speakers and 1 for sub 90X2,90X2,360X1, all at 4 ohms
lightning audio cap 1 farad 60 bucks
optima red top battery 135 bucks
15 ft 1/0 wire 40 bucks
15 ft 4 wire 15 bucks
(2) battery terminals 12 bucks apiece
(3) pair of 4 guage set screw terminals 5 bucks a set
(10) 4 guage crimp on rings
140 amp circut breaker 30 bucks
1 set of 1/0 crimp on rings
(3) 5M rca's 7 bucks apiece
40 ft. of 12GA speaker wire 35 bucks
sheet of wood to make box
i can get it around 1400 shipped.
here's my question
should i buy a distrubition block and run it after the cap or just use the cap is a distrubition block by just running all the power wires from cap. i would assume run from the cap b/c the distrubition block would cause resistance and make the cap completely worthless.

i will be running 1/0 from the battery and running 4 guage to the amps and all grounds. i will also run new wire from the alt, battery ground, and engine ground.

i'm also wondering on a idea for the sub box, amp and crossover mounts.
any other suggestions welcome

p.s. i am torn between keeping the kappa perfect sub (keeping the entire system infinty) or getting a edesign sub

Yup, I agree...you'll only need it for the amp driving the sub. Also, I like the deck you chose... and that it a damn good price too. My only question is can you get the DF802U for only a few bucks more? It looks real sweet if you ask me and you get 5v outputs instead of 2.5. I'm looking at sounddomain right now and the 602 is 239 and the 802 is 249. Obviously both are more than you're paying but if you could get the 802 for under 200 bucks...could be sweet. (Just a thought)

Stay with the Infinity...IMO

Gonna sound real nice when you're done.

Nice looking plan there, very well though out and it is hardware you should be pleased with!
Yes, better to seperare cap on the amps if possible, and bass need it more. install as physically close to the amp as you can.
Folks having them attractivly located in installed are mostly doing so for looks I am afraid.
The closer, the better!

Hey man, looks like a nice list, but a suggestion. Why not just get one bigger 4-channel amp for the speakers and use one amp for the subs, then you will only have 2 amps in the car instead of 3. You don't really need an amp for each set of speakers, but to each his own. Anyway, just throwing out a suggestion and keep us posted on how it is coming.

i'll will have to look into the HU tonight. i wanted a 4 channed amp for the main speakers, but i couldn't find a jbl 4 channel amp that would push more than 40X4. if the speakers were DVC then i could buy they are not i want to stick with the jbl amps, one good amps, 2 made by harmon inc., same manufactor as infinity

so verdict is buy a distrubition block 16 bucks(the only one i have found with 1.0 input and multiple 4 guage outputs and run the cap only on the sub amp, good stuff!!

I used to have JBL amps in my old car. They were ok.. nothing too crazy. In fact, I think I would have gotten the same performance and reliability out of a US Acoustics or Profile. Yes, JBL is Harmon Kardon.. but that doesn't neccesarily mean that it is of Infinity quality. THD ratings on the JBL amps are 0.1%.. which is higher than most. Don't get me wrong, I dont think these amps are terrible, I just wouldn't assume they're great solely because Harmon Kardon is its grandpappie.

i am getting them from www.etronics.com

3 questions, do you have fics on the final results of your stereo install, could you go into details on your box, that is really cool and why didn't you do it on the other side b/c the the jack is on that side and did you put the spare back in?

DUDE - CHECK OUT ETRONICS BEFORE BUYING FROM THEM.

MAJOR horror stories about lies and deceit. "Oh it's in stock" when it's not - refusing to refund money, etc. BE WARNED.

I also have 3 other suggestions:

Have you considered stepping up to 6.5s up front, rather than the 5.25s? You'll get better mid-bass response, and probably a little higher power handling.

And - you probably don't need a cap. Get it if you want it, but you probably won't need it. The P5 does pretty well - I have similar power in my car (about 700 watts total) and my lights only dim the slightest bit when the system is totally cranked (like to distortion). During normal listening (or even loud levels), not at all.

Also - the 1/0 gauge is overkill. If you are preparing to upgrade later, or just being cautious, fine - but 4 gauge from the battery and 8 gauge from the dist block to the amps would be more than sufficient.

Your choice, of course - I'm just throwing my $.02 out there, maybe you can save a few bucks.

But serioulsy - I would NEVER buy from e-tronics. Some poeple have no problems, but there are a LOT of complaints - something like 70 to the BBB in the past YEAR - and that doesn't include all those who never bother to file formal complaints. Good luck if you do go with them. Maybe try www.ikesound.com (they're awesome, I speak from experience) and www.bsless.com instead.

since i will be rewiring the entire care i know i won't "NEED" the cap, but i just want one. the ONLY thing i will be trying to get from etronics is the jbl amps, if i can find another place to buy them at that price i will go with someone else. I at first wanted 6.5 but it will require more customization than i would like to do, but wired thing is, all the kick panels use 5.25 so i figured why not, but the 6.5 aren't out of the pic. i will be getting all my stuff(besides the amps) from www.thezeb.com and www.knukonceptz.com with those 3 amps i will be pulling 120/130 amps max and i might want more in the future, and since i can get such a good deal on the wire, i figured i would just go with 1/0 to the dis block and 4 guage since its the biggest that will fit into the amp. i can get the 1/0 for 2.29 and the 4 for .99

i would assume they were good amps b/c in all the infinity show vehicles, they use the jbl amps, if they weren't good, then i imagine they would stick the old infinity digital beta amps in

Well they need to use their products.. and since Infinity doesn't have amps anymore, JBL has to be used. Also, Harmon Kardon is a great Speaker company... but never do you hear great things about their amps (unless of course you are into Home Audio).
