My friend is offering me some interior neons. Can I set them up so they turn on when you open the door and turn off when you close the door. IS this possible and easy to do?

yes. you just wire them to your dome light. there have been posts about how to do this so just search once the server is working again and you should be able to find a "how to". good luck.

 

You can also wire them to the door trigger ! Whenever a door open, your neons will light up !

 

wow. smarter than me. not that that is any great feat.

i still think hooking them up to a switch is the best option. it gives you total freedom to have them on or off whenever you want.

 

You could also wire them with a switch like the dome lights. On, off, or on when the doors are open. It might be more complicated but I think it would be really nice.

 

I'm planning of doing that with two reds neons, but me I'm gonna use the door trigger. I'll probably have them next week. All you have to do is use a Bosch relay or anything that compare to that. Just pick up the negative switching door switch wire and use is to trigger the relay on pin 85. Pin 86 is wired to positive 12V. For the ON/OFF switch (independently of the doors), just bring another wire to pin 85 from the ground and use a diode on both circuit.
