I had the same problem on my 91 LX. I found that there is an opening in the firewall the the tachometer or speedometer cable runs through. Use this opening. There is a large rubber grommet thee but the cable is small, so there is enough of room for running some wiring. Hope I was some kind of help.

if your running 4/2/1/0awg cable, drill a new hole and use a snap grommet or rubber grommet and seal it with silicone. IIRC, I drilled mine between the clutch and brake booster.

If your running 10 or 8awg cable, it can go through the main harness grommet, it enters the car low on the passengers side and left of the center console. Don't cut a slit or an X in it, poke a hole, and use a coat hanger with the power cable taped to it to pull it through, but lube it with alittle grease or WD-40. This way, it will be real tight in the grommet and not leak.

Never run any kind of wire through the firewall (or any other metal area) without a grommet. Do not pinch it through a hard cable grommet, these are generally not designed for extra piercing.
