That "someone else" would be me. I paid about $40 though - still better than the dealer.

But I still haven't gotten it in the mail - think it's time to bug that seller again.....

I occasionally just put in "Mazda Protege" and search - just to see what's out there.

I just came upon it during a search by luck. It seems most oif them are sold by Pro owners who take it out to put extra components or even a double-din in there. So it's kinda hit-or-miss as to whether you find one for auction.

Good luck - (and don't post if you find one until the auction is over - who needs the competition? )

$25 is a real good price considering the dealers rip. i had to get one from mazdastuff.com though cuz' i did'nt bid high enough......... conrats hihoslva.

waiting for an alpine huh?? would that be the CDA-7894? got mine this weekend and they are doing the install next week. man..... it's gonna be sweet.

i am wondering with the mp3 pocket...... is there a way to anchor the deck in there, or do just shove it in or what? want it to fit snug and not be able to be pulled out easily.

actually i got the 7893... i like the blue leds and silver finish a little better...could have got the 7894 with mp3 for 30 dollars more but like i said i liked the look of the silver face/blue leds a bit better...

both decks are sweet none the less...post some pics when you get it installed...

i'm interested to see how the bass engine works with my alpine TYPE-R subs

Looks real clean man. Nice job.

By the way, we had about 25 imports starting to come up to Donovans on Sunday night. Just up from SpeedSport on the parallel road. We've got two guys with 8500's scanning the bands. They do a good job too. Right now the RSX Type S is killing people left right and center. It's all good

Hope to see you there sometime.

Newfiep5, would you happen to know how to get the pocket out? I ask because I got the same pocket, but I didn't realize it's supposed to open downwards, so i have to get the pocket out and flip it around.

But it's now pretty secure in its place and it's locked.... i see two holes at the sides of the pocket... that might be the key.

I'm sure i can get it out if i remove my head unit first, but I want to see if there's an easier way....

So i guess there's no way to do it without taking out the radio... damn. And yeah, i don't want to scratch the plastic around the radio. Didn't want to touch it again because things are really tight in there. Well, i guess that's my punishment for being too excited with the pocket...

Thanks for your help anyway newfiep5!

Ok, the weather was nice and I had a little time, so I went out to fix it up. Since there was a 1/8 inch gap and I needed to get that fixed anyway (rattling when going over bumpy roads), so (what the heck) I pulled out my radio.

Removing the pocket was easy with the radio removed. Just push on two clips and it slid out easily, but I don't think I could have reached the clip from inside. Actually, i guess if i pulled hard enuff on the pocket, it could come out, but there wasn't a good place to grab.

Anyway, I used some sofa cushion foam material to fill the space between the metal radio bracket and the pocket. I "sandwiched" the 1 inch thick foam between the bracket and the pocket and slid the "sandwich" in. Now it's in really tight. The good thing was that that foam was black, so it really matched the pocket and you can't really see it unless you looked hard.

I need to get me one of those that looks rather nice. Im throwin in a Pioneer Premier DEH-P840MP pretty soon and need a pocket not one of those lame kits that attempt to make it look flush.
