Question 2nd DIN pocket

Help NEEDED!!
I got my P5 about 2 weeks age and can't stand the terrible stock system. I have spent wayyyy to much time reading through a ton of threads on this site and have to say that a bunch of you guys have got some of the best info/insights I've ever seen on the Web. Dave Cameron, HIHOSLVA, blue LEDZ and one hawaiian to name a few have posted great and very useful info.

Enough w/ the props...here's my problem. I am going to buy the pocket with the cover (like from reg. protege's) and am wondering what sort of kit I need to get to complete the install. I've seen the references to the Scosche site and their kits but do I need one of these?? I have installed my own stuff for about 10 years now into 3 or 4 different cars, so I am fairly hip to the install scene, just can always use a couple of pointers.
I took the Alpine HU out of my old car ( an integra GSR) along with boston pro separates (6.5"), and a Bazooka RS 8", powering it with a Xtant 405 amp. BTW- nobody ever comments on Xtant on this site and I think is really good equipment!?!

Looking forward to replies!!!!! eace:

if you are talking about the latched door pocket you get directly from mazda... a.k.a the "MP3 Pocket", then you should'nt need any other kit. the HU just fits right on top and it's a fairly tight fit. a shop did mine so i can't say exactly what was involved. PM hihoslva..... he's got that pocket and he did his own install.

Talking great!

blue ledz--no2??? in a P5...you are a craaaazzzy dude!!
Thanks for the gauge idea...seems like all cars these days have absolutely no useful info for the above average driver. Do you have any other info on the gauge pack?? I must say I do like the look of the "MP3" pocket tho...

Yeah, the MP3 pocket looks the best, but at $130 CDN, HELL NO, it ain't worth that much.

So i went to a local car performance shop and they had the Scosche pocket, which i got them to intall for $50 cash in total.

$30 for the pocket, and $20 for the install.

It looks really nice in there.

dunno if this will work

Go to this page if it doesn't work!

anyways, the pocket is the same size the deck is so it can fit 3 cds w/ jewel cases instead of 2 like the schosche (spelling) the 2nd din pocket was $25 CAD and $5 CAD for crazy glue, (the pocket comes in 4 peices so i glued it together and its strong as steel now )

pr5owner, i have no idea whether you have walmarts up there, but they sell 10" neons for $10! i've bought 6 so far, cause for the price you can't beat it!
yeah there are walmarts but US based walmarts are far better since.. well.. walmart is american, the walmarts here just started to have a grocery section (2 months ago) when i went their last i believe they had 10" pink neon tubes but they were all sold out (i just saw the tag/price) my neon is 36" and is part of a REAL underbody neon kit, i think the walmart neon is for inside like this picture (i bought the 2 tubes and sold them to my friend for his BMW install, the blue glow is from a blue neon licence plate frame)

the box lied to me too! it said it contained 1 purple neon tube, the tube turned out to be pink!! but it flashes to the bass so its all good
