Mazda 3 Stereo Questions

Mazda 3 Stereo Questions
Hello everyone. First, about me - I live in Colorado Springs and I just bought an 06 Titanium Grey Mazda 3 5 Door. Fun fun fun, er... Zoom Zoom Zoom!
I have a Pioneer 7700mp that I plan on installing. I've located the face plate kit. I have 2 questions.
1. What size speakers will fit in the doors? I've read 5x7 or 6x8 but also seen some posts regarding have issues with the windows with some 6x8's. None of those posts were in referece to the Mazda 3 tho..
2. Is the display bar that shows clock and the outside ambient temperature driven by the stock radio? In other words, will that stop functioning once the stock stereo is pulled?
