M3 mirrors retro-fit

I have only seen one guys here that had M3 style mirrors from Ford Focus molded to fit his second gen. I was wondering if it would be easier to modify the ones that are on Ebay right now for $60, from 99-02 Proteges:

Something in the back of my mind tells me that the 97-98 Protege's use the same mirror as the 3rd gens. It might be a direct swap if this is the case.

I think the housing are different, because third gen looks to have sharper edges, and second gen does not.

But if the bolt patterns are the same, I will try to file/sand them down. But first, I gotta hit the junk yards, and mess around. I just can't wait for this cold f*cking weather to go away!
