If u want the audio to be under extended warranty from the dealer, get them to install them and buy them. They will rape u on price. Id tell u to goto Circuit City or Tweeter. Bestbuy usually F's up your junk..they broke all the rear panels in my friends probe tryin to install some speaker. DUMBASS' But the speakers should only be $89 a pair at a good price. maybe if u want Excelons $119.

Stock sizes - 5x7 (6x8) fronts, 6.5" rounds rear.
Better than stock? Well yeah, but it's the same crappy power source pushing them, so the difference ain't exactly night and day.
For real sound, there just is no substitute for a separate amp.

Hey - it's okay - we were ALL new to this at one time, you know .
Here's the deal:
Your CD player has an amp inside. And like most CD player amplifiers, it sucks. Even the most expensive car CD players on the market don't really have very good internal amplifiers.
Fact is, when a CD player is advertised as "50 watts x 4", that's usually bullshit. The 50 watts is under conditions that will fry the player in 2 seconds.
However, a reputable add-on amplifier that advertises "50 watts x 4" will generally put out much MORE than 50 watts x 4 if put under the same "frying" conditions. Meaning, a good external amplifier WILL actually put out 50 watts x 4 under normal playing.
What I'm trying to say is, if you have a deck that advertises 50 watts x 4, and an amplifier that advertises 35 watts x 4, the amplifier WILL be MORE powerful than the deck - almost always.
This is just the nature of car audio - it is very tough to stuff a really solid amplifier into a deck along with all of the other parts, whereas an add-on amplifier has nothing else to do except amplify!
So - the long winded answer to your question is YES, those Kenwoods will sound MUCH better with a separate amplifier, as will almost any other speaker. Even the stock paper crap speakers will sound louder, clearer, and better with an external amplifier.
Hope I cleared that up for you a little bit!

I disagree that Kenwoods are junk, or what ever you called them. Kenwood headunits, if you did the research are very reliable, great sounding units.
they tend to have a lower output impedance on the RCA section than Pioneer, JVC, Sony, Blaupunkt (Not that anyone ever buys them), Clarion, etc. AND ESPECIALLY ALPINE!
Check out the numbers;
50 Ohms for Nakamichi, Eclipse & Rockford Fosgate (only high end Rockfords
80 Ohms for Kenwood
150-250 ohms for Pioneer, Sony, & Blau
1000 ohms for JVC
10,000 Ohms for Alpine
Higher Ohms = More resistance = Poorer sound Quality!
Alpine Only works well with Alpine amps. As far as internal power goes, I agree that most Pro's & Pro5's with Factory headunits suck. The sound is muddy, and not powerful enough. but the reason the sound differs so much between a 50 x 4 deck and a 50 x4 amplifiler is the THD%. On a deck it is about 0.1%. On a DECENT amp it is about 0.01%. THD stands for Total Harmonic Distortion. so would you like .01% distortion or .1% ?
P.S. Distortion Blows Speakers, not too much power!

I have the Kenwood Excelon 6x8 three-ways in my front door, amped by a Rockford amp, and they sound great. Nice clean sound. But I will tell you, my favorite speakers are my Pioneer 4-ways, cleared up the vocals so much in my car.

I'm not a huge fan of Kenwood speakers or subs. But as far a decks go, I have had nothing but Kenwoods for years! They are not always the most user-friendly or best-looking decks, but for reliability, I love them.
I've probably had 5 kenwood decks in various vehicles. NEVER has one had a SINGLE problem. They are VERY stable as far a CD skipping, also - almost never happens. I've never fried one, never had something go wrong - nothing. Even the older ones I had that were TAPE DECKS! Never ate a tape, never "warbled" - great units.
I really like Kenwood decks! Honestly!
It's just the speakers I can do without - I feel there are much better choices out there.

Wow...who knew Alpine HUs had poor SQ...
Your stats are flawed, your trying to say that a JVC or even a SONY has better SQ than an Alpine...
I guess if it makes you feel better you can think that.

My Pro, as does most peoples I would guess, has 6 speakers. How would you hook an amp up to power all of them, or would you only power 4. ?
