interior neon
heres a tip. a lot of people are choosing to install interior neon under their dash. great idea! looks clean and what not, but why not install them under your front two seats? thats what i did. you can fasten them right on to the brackets of your seats in most cases.
why is this better? it shines not only into the front wells, but also into the backseat.
also, i dont know if you all have been doing this, but for a little less rice, hook them up to a switch instead of your cigarette lighter. i just mounted my switch in the coin tray on the drivers side. you cant even tell i have neons until i hit the switch.
let me know what you guys think.

yes, I think it's a great idea, just because that's what I want to do. hehe...I went to Walmart and Canadian Tire today, and they were sold out. (neons that is)
One question to you: What is the total length of your neon?

Schematic
Here is the tipical way to hook anything to battery using a realy and a switch.
I hate using cigaret lighter current, Bring a wire from battery bring a big one like 8 guage so you can use it for all your future project.
So here it is:
Ignition will be used as the trigger, you can use accessory instead if you want (not sure if it still have current when on ignition).
What this will do :
When ignition have power this will trigger the relay and let the power transfer to pin 87 where your device is connected, the switch will shut off the relay coil, not the +12V, that's the way it work in the car, press a switch and you will hear a relay clicking.
I hope this will help some of you

IF YOUR SWITCH HAVE 3 PINS THATS A SWITCH WITH A LIGHT IN IT YOU WILL HAVE TO GROUND IT REMEMBER TO ALWAYS FUSE YOUR +12V ANY WAYS YOU SHOULD FUSE BEFORE ENTERING THE FIREWALL.

For relay instruction and how they work see that site
There are plenty of information with schematics and even opened relay

my neons are each 10" long. they fit PERFECTLY in my 95. if you mount them properly, low enough on the bracket, they will never break. well...almost never.
my switch isnt even wired to the ignition. straight to the battery baby! it only drains power when the switch is on any way.
thanks for everyones input!

want more ideas for neon? i've got tons. i just mounted a 9 inch behind my grill. i mounted it so you only see the light, and not the light bulb. looks tight. would look tighter with some of those ultra white head lamps though, what do you guys reccomend for a 95 dx?

do what i did, and wire them through the dome light. they light up when i unlock my doors, and with the switch inside. it's pretty badass, especially when my grill lights up. i've been meaning to put some under my seats.

the dome light has a constant positive lead. it's the negative that turns it on and off. i just ran the wires from one neon up the pillar and over the headliner. the headliner isn't very hard to remove, and the pillar cover just pulls off. to remove the headliner, you have to remove the piece holding the dome light and the sun visors. make sure you have both pillar covers off before pulling the headliner down. oh, tape the end of the wire to a dowel or a rod that is long enough to make it from the pillar to the dome light. that way you only have to pull the headliner down a few inches. and when you put the dome light housing back on, make sure the metal rings are in holes for the screws. they are grounds. the wire that goes straight to the metal bulb holder is the positive, and the one that has a few different paths is the negative. i just twisted the wire around the bulb terminals, with the bulb removed of course. works great. if you have any other questions, let me know.

Just a few more questions ...
What you do exactly is connect the neons in parallel with the dome light am I right ? So you're using a voltage source and not a current source !? Also, the wire you say that you twisted around the bulb, is that the positive or the neagtive ? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a newbie for modifying electric stuff in my car !
Also, you say that the pillar just pulls off ! I tried to remove one tonight ... Do I have to be pulling strongly or squeezing the side ? Another thing, I got a moonroof, so will I have to entirely get the headliner off ?
Thanks ...
