Installing aftermarket HU with Mazda pocket
Hi Guys,
I've got a new HU and the Mazda din pocket. Aside from the wiring is this all I need?
I've done a test fit and it is ok, it doesn't seem overly stable and there are a couple of gaps I'm not terribly pleased with.
Does anyone have any tips for installing a new HU with a Mazda pocket in a P5? Is there anyway to use the mounting brackets from the stock HU? Should I also use a kit?

You say foam insulation, maybe I'm sleepy but what exactly do you mean (what is a common use for it)? Where do you put the insulation? Between the HU and the pocket?

Don't want to be a pain, but I've got very little experience installing a din HU. All the information I've got from here and around the net seems to assume you know exactly what to do with the din cage that comes with the deck.

The other thing I did was to take the rubber peg off the stock HU, modify it a little to fit my new HU. This gives the new HU a lot of support from behind. I should have taken pictures of the procedure...well I am going to be changing the pocket out in the near future, so I'll take pictures of everything then.
