Cool Info on Dash Kit for P5

I am having a lot of trouble finding a dash kit for my P5. I want to put an aftermarket HU, but every store I go to says it's not available, or its a special order. They can't even give me a part number to find it somewhere else!!! So if anyone has all ready put in a aftermarket HU could you please give me the part number and the brand name thank you very much.

Check the string on the board titled something like Sound Domain Support, it should have the part numbers you might be looking for.
The kits you are looking for are on the internet, do a couple of searchs on metra or Scoshe kits, and you should turn someone up.
If not, gripe it out here and someone will get a link! There are several old post here that also address this issue.
Good Luck, the stuff you need is manufactured and out there-

Look up the Best Kits website. They feature a kit for the 2002 Protege/P5 on their homepage. They give part #s etc. Unfortunately, you can't order direct from the site itself, but having the part # should help guide vendors you may contact.

Wink

I had the same problem...I got the BEST kit from a local car audio shop, it was the only one I could find that fit...and it fit like a charm!

You don't really have to buy a specialized kit for your P5. If you are installing a single DIN sized unit, all you need to buy is a DIN sized pocket. Most local stereo shops have them for around $15. I bought one from Best Buy and is a normally stocked item. You can also purchase a factory pocket, but it would cost you about $35, and it may have to be ordered. The only other thing that you need to worry about is getting the correct wiring harness.

for the factory pocket with the little door it would be more like $70 (USD).

Thumbs up

Thanks guys, I need the part number for the Metra dash kit because that is what all the stereo shops sell in my City. and none of them can give me a part number!!! most say they don't have the 2002 parts book. Well I hope they get it before the 2003 come out or there are going to be a lot of angry people!!!

Thanks again guys!!!
