Illumination Dimmer on P5?
Ok so I followed the wiring diagram like the following website shows "http://www.astolfo.com/p5/p5install.asp?track=5&mode=1" and used the extra wire in my wiring harness to connect the dimmer and my radio still wouldnt dim. So I bought a wire tap thing and taped into the white and blue wire and I still cannot get my radio to dim when the lights are turned on. Any comments suggestions? The dimmer worked fine in my last car....

this is likely not of much help but I will post in just in case someone has an opinion.
What I found odd about the dimmer wire is that in my last car (where I first had my HU) it did not dim when I turned the lights on (the wire was hooked up) but in this car (P5) it does work as desired.
Maybe there is a polarity issue with the way certain HUs handle the dimming. Some dim when the control is a low voltage and some when it is at a high voltage? Just an idea... maybe if someone has the dash taken appart they might be able to measure the voltage of the dimmer line in the Protege and post the information to the board.

my head unit also has the dim option turned off as a factory preset but I've turned it on and off atleast 20 times... the polarity thing could be a possibility.... I'm using a Pioneer Premier 920r head unit...

My SONY CDX-MP70 aslo has the Dimmer options turned off (factory default)... Talking about dimmer I have a question regarding this. I bought a scosche harness which does not have
a pin connecting to blue and white on the factory plug.
So currently the orange (Illumination) wire of SONY HU is not pluged anywhere. I called scosche and they said I should not bother about dimming because most of after markets units do not have dimming. But.. the SONY HU that I've got has an orange wire which is illumination (according to the manual).
Now, is Illumination the same as Dimming?
Also,... is it safe to tap the orange wire of SONY HU to the white and blue wire. Does anybody know the polarity of the white and blue wire?
Thanks,
