Umm I have a question for you. Why do you have an "MP3" badge on the back of your car, and Sport20 emblems? I am not trying to be cynical or negative or anything, but I'm simply trying to help you avoid perhaps some other people who would make ruder comments. I know many people including myself, consider falsely badging your car to be done in, well let's not say "rice" (even though that's the proper term) , but uhh bad taste.

Hey One Hawaiian- For a drop in sub- it does very well. The box is not maximumized, nor is the amp a high level driver. But I am not a bass head, so the unit does fine for my needs in as user passenger car.
But it is no Focal. But then again, it does not eat up my trunk!!

um, dave are you retired SF? i saw the sticker on your car and that would also explain your quote, which i like by the way.
and i'm sorry that your wife passed away. i'm glad you have a daughter to help remember her by, but i'm sure you have many wonderful memories of you wife.
I was in the Army from 78 to 93, when I had to retire on disability. I did get a decent education thanks to uncle sam, a Batchlors Degree, a Masters and a J.D., so I have no gripes I guess.
I was in the Teams from 81 until I left the service. I got to go to some pretty interesting places over the years.

I miss my wife allot, but I prefer her to be in peace rather than to be living in the pain and discomfort she was towards the end.
My wife was a most remarkable woman, and my daughter is a fine person who would make her mother proud.
Thanks for the thoughts-

I take your comments in the spirit I am sure they were posted. Actually the sticker is a MP 5 not a MP3. I see the MP5 as a double play on words- I own a registered Class Three H&K MP-5. The 5 badge is an informal emblem of the protege wagon, but as considering the MP 5 specification does not really exsist, then it is not truely fake badging in my book.

In a court, I am afraid I would be entirely convicted of rebadging, and any possible bad taste that might entail. Thats Guitly, Guitly,Guilty!

Of course, as an attourney, I would have to fight it!

This would lead to an interesting legal and logical proposition- Most all of us have some type of item that others would consider offensive, Neon, Carbon Fiber interior kits, seat belt pads, far too numerous to recite. It apparenly requies some non defined number of transgressions or offending items to cause one to be accused of "Rice".
I would probably attempt to suggest that meeting one part of the critera of rice does not constitue rice. For example, I have not placed colored tubing all over the motor, or lowered the car to inches off the ground, or added cute oriental air fresheners, or added a wing the size of my Cessnas! The list or offending acts, as we both know, is very long and extensive.
In Logic, this is known as the slippery sloped, what number of offensives does it take to make one rice? One, two, ten? Logic would say you could not have any subjective critera used, so it would become a matter of absolutes, either all or nothing.
In the legal system it would be called a preponderance of evidence, so depending upon either the law itself, legal presidence, or the judges instructions to the jury, one offensive item might or might not be enough to convict. Unless there is good case law or a clearly worded law, then the conviction might be subject to review and overturn. I have had it happen!
I do by the way respect very much your candor, and apparent strenght of character in letting me know that you consider my badging in poor taste.
This is a subjective matter- and while I choose to not modify my actions based on your objections, I do respect your right to feel and express your opinions.
So Thanks-
Otherwise, any thoughts?
Like most of us, I like positive comments!!

Well that was a very good rebuttal (i suck at spelling sometimes), and like I said I wasn't trying to be rude, or hate on ya. I was just curious. The only reason I really asked was cause it was already on my mind when I got home. This dumbass was parked in my apartment complex with this beat up piece of **** old '88 Civic. It has freakin silver spray paint on the bumpers to try and match the paint of the car. But that's not the beauty of it. The best thing is the big *** banner across his windshield, it reads, "1.6l VTEC", and I'm sitting there saying to myself, WTF? There is no way this jobber spent the chedda on a VTEC engine swap into his piece of **** car, which in that year, VTEC was even around. So i guess that is why the flase badging **** was just buggin me. Oh well, you aren't even close to the level of flaseifying inof as this guy is.

But positively though, your install is lookn good, and your daughter is a little cutie. Peace

Thanks again for taking the time to check out the site! I have the very same pangs at times, often about the washboard lowering or giant hood scoops! Always worth a good laugh.
You are merely reflecting your knowledge of cars, their production offerings and waht is bogus based on what you know, and point well taken.
To anyone who would ask, I would never try to decive them as to the car.
I actually was pleased to have found the Sport 20 and the Mazdaspeed badges- not too many stateside, at least in Oklahoma!
Again, thanks for posting of your thoughts!

a registered MP-5? nice. the army is what you make of it. i'm in the reserves right now to help pay for college, and for the training. i took a while off college, but plan on having my commission in 3-4 years. i'm a combat engineer right now, but really want to go infantry as an officer so i can go to ranger school. you seem to be a very educated person with a level head and well spoken. your daughter is very lucky. OK enough personal stuff. nice car. i thought the lion on the front was an amber light till i saw the closeup
The MP-5 was a tool of the trade for CQB, I grew quite attached and proficient with one, so when I could afford one, I got it. The SF community is also a big brotherhood, so I got the MP-5 from a fellow member of the community.
I would honestly suggest you stay with the engineers, and then do selection for the Airborne first. The two specialities that there were never enough of in the SF community were medical, and engineers. No skill set will ever get someone in automatically, but those two MOS will help a ton. It is like you say, what you make out of it.
I had to laugh about the neon lion!
Thanks again for the comments- I appriciate you!
