Im looking to install a direct wire for an Escort Passport radar detector, and im not sure how to remove some of these panels on the 2010 3. Im looking to just tap into the cigarette lighter wire and mount the mute button to the left of the wheel on the panel between the wheel and the door.

Would removing the stereo be a better idea? And would that be the same as removing the later models?
