help with mobile video

i have a 7inch indash tv that im getting installed next week.
my question to anyone with one that one that might know is, how do rig it to work with out the e-brake being on.
i really dont plan on watching it, and know it is against the law in most states.
just so passengers can play games or to keep my fiance busy so shes not screaming about my driving!
the guy at a stereo shop said i could just pull up 1 click on e-brake and wouldnt hurt nothing, or if it did i could adjust it in the back.
i dont want to do this unless i have to, i know there is a simple or easier way getting around this problem.
any and all advice or pictures, or diagrams will be greatly appreciated!
thanks brian
