couple mobile video questions

i posted this on the other protege board, and got some help,. but not enought o make a decision

ok im making up my christmas list, and i have a few questions about mobile video. im not expecting you guys to go very in depth about this cus it would be a waste of your time, i dont even know if im definately getting the stuff. this is just the setup i was looking at for now.

2 lcd screens, one in each visor. i was going to buy the ones from parts express

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/show..._ID=16106&DID=7

would those fit in the visors, and how much work is required

i was also looking at the Panasonic CX-DVP292U for a dvd player
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&item=801521341

i was looking for vcd and svcd playback in the dvd player but i cant find any that would support that.

right now i have the alpine cdm-7871 face, but that will be replaced due to lack of audio in. i also wanted to know what alpine faces have audio in. i want to stick with alpine because i relaly like their quality.

also i am going to be installing the dvd player under my face in my dash, what dash kit will allow me to do this.

i am competant with the wiring so i can do all that myself.

Unless you drop some serious cash, visor monitors never look GOOD.

If you want tv up front with dvd and a/v input look into Alpine.

They have a few choices for headunits with a/v in and an indash lcd. I believe only 1 of them tho has CD capability. They also offer an in-dash DVD player(which could technically be used as the CD player if you choose a model that doesnt have CD capability).

Check out my pics -- Alpine IVA-C800 CD/AM/FM Headunit with Motorized 6.5" LCD . Mounted under the headunit is the DVA-5205(iirc) in dash DVD player. This combo also offers some a/v inputs for video game systems(I have xbox) and outputs for other monitors(headrest, flip down, etc)

hmmmm thats strange, all the visor monitors i've done look good

as for Alpine, i just don't really like em, just MHO.

For a nice all in one (and i'm pretty sure it plays VCD) is the Pioneer Navi/DVD/CD player...NAV-SYS900DVD or the AVIC-90DVD with the screen AVD-W6010.

although are you sure the Panasonic doesn't play VCDs?

visor screens will look good, if u drop the scrilla. if u know what ur doing, then grab the modules from parts express and make it look nice, but if not, u will have to drop some serious cash.

alpine is okay, altho if ur looking for raw modules i'd check out icon-tv. eclipse makes a nice all in one unit. sony has some decently priced screens. ur options are pretty wide open, depending on how much money u are willing to put down.

but then if u can do it urself, it'll be a lot cheaper. i couldn't and i had to get someone to install it for me so i had to find good quality screens at decent prices.

an indash dvd player that will play vcd and svcd would be the pioneer sdv-97, you could get that from onlinecarstereo.com...i also have the pioneer avh 6400CD and i have no complaints about the setup...
