I don't think the Avionixx lights up. Don't you think they'd advertise this?
Ah, the warranty.... Let's hope the Tsunami will last me long enough.

It's 10:51pm and I just got back from another road-test.

First I want to address the dimming "issue". SOMETIMES my lights dim just as when I press the button to roll up a window, but the window is already rolled up... so the motor draws a lot of current, and my lights dim very little (barely noticeable). Sorry MisterT. I guess your stuff is either too inefficient or you're always crankin' it to ultra-high volumes...

SPL is above my expectations (even with the amp rack installed).
SQ is right there... I wanted to get more crunch from the guitars, but I guess the sub has a totally different task. It reproduces only bass guitar and bass drums. It's cool though... Sounds very nice.

I was surprised at how good my stereo sounds. Usually I listen to old-school Metallica (1983-1988) and the quality of those records isn't like the quality one would expect to hear on a recently released CD. Thus, I have gotten used to listening to the (lack of) quality of those CDs. This night though, I decided to go fresh and play something new. I got an Evanescence CD and the latest System of a Down CD and went for a drive. I was pleasantly surprised. I cannot complain about anything. The bass is there - it's more than enough. The mids are there, the highs are there... Overall - excellent! I'm very pleased.

Many people complain about rattle. I guess my B-QUIET project paid off and it was a good thing that I did it before installing a sub. The only sources of rattle are my side mirrors. I don't hear them while I'm in the car, but the rattle is pretty bad on the outside. This blemishes my fine install.

Now I really have to look into those amp settings (input level, low pass filter, etc.). I also have to figure out a way to strap the box so it doesn't move, but in the same time it should be easily removable. This weekend I will try to finish the box -- install the light, use Liquid Nails to seal it, then carpet it...

Here's the stuff I need some help with. Any tips/ideas will be greatly appreciated!

- how to stop side-mirror rattle
- how to strap the box

Is your box moving around the trunk? If not, I wouldn't worry too much about strapping it down. Some people have used even the crudest of methods like the bungee cords with hooks to hold their boxes down, but it takes away from the look of the install. Not sure about mirrors. I don't worry about rattles that I can't hear from the inside of the vehicle. So my trunk rattles, you can see the roof moving in and out, and I am sure the wing rattles a bit too. I may look at your post on the BQuiet for the rear deck, becuase that rattles a bit. Blue replaced his outside mirrors with ones with the turn signals on it, so he may be able to help with how to keep it from rattling. Are they powered mirrors? If so, you may have some problem. Just stuff a bunch of newspaper around it and make it look like a ghetto install! Pepboys job, "That will run you $150 for the custom work and labor, plus we used the sports page, but we won't charge you for that." I never had them install any thing, but I called once and inquired about putting a bra on a 90 Eclipse, and they wanted so much that it was more than the bra itself. I figured out how to put the friggin' thing on myself.

You may be able to stuff something back there, but then you would trap in moisture by doing so. Also, you don't want to affect the mirror from moving by having something back there.

oye, strapping down your box. well, think, anywhere you can shoot a self tapping screw, you'll be fine. this issue bothered me too, as i no longer HAVE subs because of this gentle fiasco. if you don't have a grill for your subs guys, get them, eitherwise, DON'T put anything in your trunk. my best suggestion would be figuring out a way to use steel strapping or a lightweight angle iron and screwing it into the floor of your trunk or strapping it to the amp rack... maybe even the back dash. either that, or you might get away with slapping some rubber feet under the box (the ones you screw in ) i wouldn't know what else to tell you... maybe bending some shelve mounting brackets to the angle you need and strapping the box down?? good luck. i keep thinking of more ways to mount your box, so instant message me with this screen name on aol, i'll see what else i can't think of. good luck
peace

Unfortunately, you would have to make a grill for the ED unless you can find or make a ring around the outside of the woofer and put one on. The surround sticks out pretty considerably (like the JL W3 does, but not the mammoth W7. Or you could do what Blue did and have it inside the box in a bp configuration. Speaking of which, I wonder if he's hung over from the other night! He mentioned in another post that he was going to ve out late. (Blue at the beginning of the night) (Blue towards the middle) (and Blue at the end of the night and today!)

There is this rubber stuff that you can buy at wal-mart in the kitchen section. It comes in a role and you just lay it down and then set stuff on top of it. It has worked great for everything I have seen it used for. I have never seen it used for this though. It can't be more than $5 for a role of it.

Its what I would try because it is 100% removable in a second. All you do is pick it up. I think it is made for puttin in drawers so stuff doesn't slide around when you open and close them.
