Do any of you guys have your head unit installed in the glove box, while keeping the stock hu in place as a theft deterrent? I'm thinking about doing this. I have a Kenwood MP3 hu, but I don't want all that unused space left over after removing the stock hu, and I also like the idea of giving the appearance that the system is completely stock.

Has anyone here done this? If so, what's your opinion?

Also, how does the dash look when you replace the stock with a smaller head unit (i.e., is there a lot of unused space that looks bad)?

Used to be very common is user systems. Not so common since the introduction of faceplate and card security systems. There are aftermarket parts companies that make metal enclosures for such installs.
Consider the challange of the second DIN slot as a opprotunity for a equalizer or some other type of hardware though...
Just a thought
