Has anyone done a HID retrofit on a Protege 5?

I'm thinking of purchasing a HID retrofit kit for my Protege 5. It has Phillips balasters and bulbs, and sells for $700 CAN. Is this price reasonable? Because to me this is alot of money. Another question is because Canadian Protege5 have their DRL (Daytime Running Lights) on when the handbrake is deactivated, and they use the H7's which are also the night time driving bulbs, at a reduced intensity . It means the HID's now in place of the orginally H7s will run at full intensity because HID's do not have intensity level differences and will always be on even in broad daylight. Does anyone know how to deactivate the DRLs or route the DRLs to the high beam bulbs or fog lights. Any advice will be much appreciated.

Moderators may you please keep this post in this area because the headlight assmeblies for other Proteges is different. Thanks.
