Negatives are blown struts, terrible ride and possible permanent damage to suspension mounting points.

Positives are a free drop, and not always a terrible ride. Hell I didn't like the way my p5 sat when I put the H&R's in. The front sat higher than the back and it just looked kinda stupid. I ended up cutting 3/4's out of each coil in the front, and a full coil in the back springs. Now the car sits beautifully on on the tires no rub, and the ride isn't that bad at all. In fact my car with cut H&R sport springs and stock struts rides better than my friend's accord with non-cut H&R race springs. As a matter fact I think my cornering even feels a little tighter.
As for cutting your stock springs well, you will probably be in for more harsh of a ride depending upon how much you cut out. If you're on your stock springs and you take like 2 full coils (that looked like my best guess from eyeballing the stock springs, for a ~2" drop) out then yeah your car will ride like ****, and bounce all over the place. The best way though to judge the height is to look at your springs when the car is on the ground and the springs are fully compressed. Then try to look and imagine how much of a coil(s) it would take to make it sit where you want. Then cut very conservatively from your intial estimate. Take small sections out at first and then install them and see what it looks like. If it ain't good enough, cut some more. You can always keep cuttin, but its gonna be hard to re-attach coils.
Hope that helps, I ain't gonna be like everyone else and tell ya not to cut em. Its your car, cut em if you want. People told me not to cut mine and I told em to **** off, even though I had already bough brand name lowering springs.

ok... let me get this right... you can obviously handle doing all the work yourself, so that cuts out labor costs. because any shop will point and laugh if you want to cut your springs there, but in the end they'd probably take your money anyway if you wanted to give it to them bad enough for something stupid like this. i'm not trying to be a dick.. but why intentionally try to harm your mode of transportation? me personally, it's my only mode of transportation, therefore.. i'm gonna do everything right (please ignore the fact that i'm running nitrous ). Jesse is dead on here. $200 is not that much money. It may take a minute to save up that $200, but in the end, you'll be happier with the quality of your ride and not having the "ghetto-bounce" (and not the kind that's caused by hittin them switches, yo) you get when driving around town with cut springs. find out how low you want to drop the car, 1.5" 2.0" whatever, and get the springs or coilovers that fit your needs. please, thank you, have a nice day.

Umm yeah except for the fact that the main component you're dealing with here is THE FREAKIN SUSPENSION. This thread should not have been moved.

I totally understand, and I tried to provide some useful comments unlike others. I'm not sure what more you're looking for as far as help/comments. What did my post not cover?

AND MOVE THIS DAMN THREAD BACK TO THE SUSPENSION SECTION!

You can accomplish that in several easy steps that won't damage your suspension.

1. Go to home depot
2. Purchase many large bags of concrete.
3. Load them into your car so that the springs are compressed to the desired height.
4. stand back from car and see if you like the way it looks
5. After deciding whether you like it or not, return the many bags of concrete with the excuse that "I bought the wrong thing" and exchange them for a hammer and some lightbulbs.

My opinion differs from yours, thats allowed, but im the moderator of the suspension forum, and therefore, my opinion stands.

You're not better than me, or have better opinions than me just cause you're a mod.

Don't Cut them heat them and shrink them! LOL
no cut springs now. LOL

Break out the Rose bud torch and heat to red let car slowly go down to desired ride!

Who ever said that cutting springs was not a Suspenison method to lower a car?
It has been done for the last 50 years before all the young kids got into the chino mobil look and needed a ride that was sweet
talk about putting blocks on lifted trucks that can sweep the axle under or out from the blocks,

Just like all the methods take in account that to reach the desired method of spring lowering someone had to cut the spring first to determine how the spring would need to be developed.
Dont whine and throw a thread somewhere else cause you have the authority to send it to rice burner tendrum just case you can.
its still about suspension.

I have pulled leafs from beams in VW's, heated springs, cut springs, used lowering blocks raiseing blocks, heated I beams to lower trucks/ raise trucks, flipped axles, heated leafs, made many four link suspensions, installed custum air bag setups, built sandrails, golf carts.
IMO you are taking your first Chino moble experience to a POWER TRIP LIMIT. HOW long have you been around PseudoRealityX?
Oh yes and not to offend anyone's powers a of a moderatorOh yes and not to offend anyone's powers a of a moderator
