front bumper rebar
ok, a lot of people say that in order to mount the mp3/pro5 bumper on the regular protege, you need to swap out the rebar. what is the major difference between the two? (other than one being for the regular pro and the other for the pro5) does any one have comparison pictures of these parts?
thanks

No pictures of them.
The MP3 rebar is wider than the regular Protege. Obviously because the MP3 bumper is a larger bumper.
It's pretty straight forward. The stock rebar simply won't support the larger bumper.

it's not THAT much larger, and the rebar is not what supports the bumper.
here is my conclusion: after i started this thread, i went to mazdausa.com and looked at some of the pictures of the protege and the protege5 to see if there was any difference in the bumpers. well, guess what, there is a huge difference staring us all right in the face!
now, look closly at the two pictures. the part that is right above the front grill is narrower on the MP3 than it is on the ES. i am assuming that this is where the rebar is situated behind. if this is the case, then the MP3/protege5 rebar is going to be SMALLER than the protege rebar.
this is my conclusion, and i am sticking by it unless someone can produce actual pictures of the two different rebars.
