factory alarm...

Does anyone have the install manual for the factory alarm... I'm getting tired of setting up appointments with my dealer to fix the alarm.

Thanks,

Jason

Whats the problem with it? maybe i can help.

Was the alarm added or did it come from the factory pre-installed? what i mean is, did the dealer install it or the factory?

If you added it, i might ask to have it removed and strickend from your terms....

i suspect it's a 2000+ sedan/P5, but humor me and let me know for sure

Ok, I bought the car (2002 Protegé5) in July 2001 and never questioned the window sticker until recently. Under options, it listed the perimeter shock sensor alarm as being installed. I searched for it everywhere on my car and couldn't find it. Took the car in for some warranty work and they agreed that it was never installed on the car when it reached the california port. The dealer ordered the alarm and installed it . They state that it was working after installed, but when I tried it all I could hear was a "clicking" noise coming from the control box. Dealer says it could be a bad module. Technician was supposed to call Mazda in California, but I haven't heard anything from him yet. Just wondering if I got my hands on a install manual that maybe I could fix it.

well, sounds more like an install error or it's not programmed properly, but it's possible it could be a bad module. the clicking you hear, is this when you try to arm/disarm it? or anytime? My guess is thats the parking light relay you hear clicking, do the parking lights flash at all?

is it a Mazda factory remote? (IIRC the alarm is made by CodeAlarm, not one of my favorites) so it may be a C-A remote.

Factory alarm isnt any good.

Well atleast the one on my MP3 wasnt any good..... 3 months after I had my car someone broke into it and stole my sound system and the alarm never went off. It wasnt tamperd with or anything it just never went off.

Invest some money in a good system.

I am currently doing research to find a good one that wont annoy me if it accidentally goes off.

Oh and when they replaced my stereo they replaced it with a better head unit..... the one the canadians got. Z828 i belive replaced the Z929.

Viper or any DEI product is my suggestion for a good alarm. And if your worried about it going off all night, read about NPC.

It turned out to be a bad control module -- "no ground signal." It's working now after waiting for a week. Thanks for your help.
