Cluster illumination
#16
ERRR,
OK, on my friends 2000 Protege, the stock color of the instrument cluster when lit is green. So today, I took it apart and replaced the green rubbered bulbs with some purple ones.
So I put it all back together, and turned it on. Where is the purple!! The numbers still lit up with a whitish/greenish color. And no where near as bright. I could tell the bulbs were giving off the purple color, because I could see purple light escaping out of the back of the cluster, when I was working on it.
I know I've seen pictures of people who changed the color of their cluster. How did they do it? It appears that the gauges themselves have something in it that makes them light up green. When I had the cluster out, I took a flashlight and shined it into where the bulb would go, and sure enough the numbers lit up green
Is there anyway to change the illumination color on a 2000 protege?
Thanks
Chris.
