Wil,
This is the first I've heard that EGT hoods fit our cars, maybe I'll shitcan this whole fiberglass hood project (it's growing out of control) and buy one. I've done some searching but can't find anyone selling them. Any ideas who's got 'em for sale?

it should fit, but it won't have the creases in the hood like a Protege. Escort sedan hoods are flat if I remember right.

Aren't the hoods different because of the headlights?

A carbon fiber hood would look really good on a 1st gen protege or a 323 hatchback ... and also the 2nd gen protege's .. I don't see what the big argue is .. It's not rice. It is pure performance with a touch of show.. it's considered the best of both worlds ..
In any form or racing you want to lessen the amount of weight in the car .. The lighter the car the faster it is or quicker it is ..
Imagine you loose a 100 lbs and it takes a.1 second off of your 1/4 mile .. and you win the nats .. what would you have said if you lost by that same .1 seconds ....

It was part of some groupbuy over a year ago for the ERDT guys. DOubt they still make them. Good luck trying to find one.

And when the hell have cf hoods been considered "Rice"? Many fully built racecars have cf hoods...I guess they are a bunch of ricers?
Do those fully built racecars have full interior? That's what I thought. Once you take more steps to lighten the car, such as dropping useless plumbing, noise deadener, or interior, then I'm not gonna consider it rice. I would consider it a very important part to improving your performance.

what are the escort years we can use again? 92-95 right?
actually, it's 91-96, but that's close enough. I basically posted so you could see my sig pic. It's a regular non-CF hood, but it's an escort hood, and they're the same, so.....

--edit (boy, i guess I was a little off in saying they were exactly the same...)

--sarge
