Why the hell would you want a carbon fiber hood? Our hoods are light as hell. Is it for looks?

demoninvictus May-27th-2003 08:12 PM

11 pounds cf compared to 45+ metal???
peace

get the Ford Escort CF hood, it fits 1990-93, the 94s wont fit unless u do the older headlight and grille conversion. Just another Suggestion.

titocruzsd May-28th-2003 02:05 AM

i believe i saw a guy with a CF hood about a year ago, but i haven't seen him since, so i can't verify if it was CF or just painted black (i was getting on the highway, so i didn't get a good look at it). :dunno:

dude, i think that rx7_tunr is a fucking moron...cf isnt about rice, its about dropping weight...plus my hood is fucked up, so instead of paying a junk yard 200 bux for a hood, i was thinking of spendind a lil more to get something that will be of some performance value...use your fucking brain dude

First off, your too new to be runnin ur mouth already, and yes CF hoods are completely about ricing a car, every car in my town that has a cf hood also has ground effects, an aftermarket muffler, tinted windows and stickers (all you need for ricing a car)...

if u really want weight reduction, take ur hood off and paint ur engine, dont waste 200 on a hood...

Where does weight reduction get you, you lose 100 pounds and get .001 takin off of ur 1/4 mile time, unless your whole car is gunna be made of cf, or fiberglass, weight reduction aint worth it...

SlopPerformance May-28th-2003 09:27 AM

fuck rice, who cares. honestly, CF hoods look good. your car should be a reflection of you, what you like, what your about, not whats "rice" or not. Fuck the naysayers and do what you like. Damn.

There are just better things you can get for your car. Why waste your money on a carbon fiber hood when you could spend that money on some headwork? You'll get a much better performance gain. Now if you already did most of what you can to add power, then do the carbon fiber hood. $200 is an outrageous price for a hood, try http://www.car-part.com

weight reduction is a good thing. ALWAYS. It improves EVERY ASPECT of performance. The the only mod that will help handling, braking, acceleration, EVERYTHING.

weight reduction is not ricing your car.

This is just putting on a carbon fiber hood, though. It's a start, but you might as well drop the interior if you're going to reduce weight.

what are the escort years we can use again? 92-95 right?
