Best way to seal off my 6.5 mids from the rest of the door.

Hey guys, I was installing brown bread on my doors yesterday and I put in the baffles I got from Crutchfield. The verdict: Alpine "type S" speakers don't like enclosures
Anyway, I ended up cutting the baffles just so they protect against water splashes since this is a known problem in the 2nd gens.
I'll post a few pics to show you what I did in the end.
EDIT:
This is the passenger side door with the baffle uncut.
The speaker was "starving" (for lack of a better word in my dictionary).
This is the driver side... with the baffle cut. This is what the other one looks like, but I didn't want to take the speaker off after I tested it, so I took a picture of the right side before putting the speaker in.
