amp + sub installation help :)

i decided my car needs a bit more ooompfh in the bass department so i got a amp and sub...

what are the best ways of installing this??? Does the 99 protege 1.6L have RCA outputs on the back or do i need to use the high inputs into amplifier..

if using high inputs how do i go about doing it??

anyhelp would be greatly appriciated... thanks

EDIT: Forget to mention my head unit is stock hehe... the one with the cassett player on it.. with the 6 stacker under the seat

I don't think you can use the stock HU.
The best way is to get a new(er) headunit & an amp install kit.
It's pretty straight forward.

If my 2003 P5 factory stereo (with 6-disc changer) doesn't have RCA inputs, neither does your 1.6L, I would assume. We had this discussion a while back, please take a look:

Ha ha screw that....I'd much rather an aftermarket HU...that's some work just to install a sub!

I just put 2 JL 10's in my trunk. I still have my stock HU. Used a line output converter from www.davidnavone.com (N-777.) They sound great and the installation was a piece of cake.

BTW: Amps fit under the seats great! i used the 'compartment' behind the console for the fuses.

If you have high level inputs for your amp and then you don't need a separate line ouput converter. The manual for the amp should explain how to hook it up but, basically you just connect wires to the pair of speakers (either front or rear - depending on where you want to install the amp). You will still need to connect the amp to the battery and power control to the HU. An appropriate amp kit will have the wires and connectors you need.

okay so i wired up the 2 back speakers into the high input of the amplifier according to the diagram on the manual...i also wired up the car using the amp wiring kit... (i honestly cound;t get the stock HU out so i just did a lil dodgy work and put in a switch connected to the positive and remote inputs to turn amp on ehehe... insead of using the remote wire though HU.. i dont think mine even has one :S)

anyway the sub just wont run!!!!!!!!!!! then i though for testing purposes i will hook up my Ipod using the RCA inputs to the amp.. and bang it works fine and DDAMNN it pumps LOL...

i tried a few other things but the signal from the speakers just dont seem to be gettin to the amp... ...

i decided to just get a new HU (was thinkin of doin this for a while)..

just one more question though.... with the engine immobilizer... coz its run though the stock head unit... will i have to leave it in??or can i just disable the immobilizer???

i was drooling when i tested the amp using the ipod LOL.. the sub just PUMPS... (some sound proofing will be required though haha)

i apologize for maybe askin silly easy questions... but i though i might as welll get some suggestions from ya;ll who have probably done it already hehe
