Amber bulbs

Well an amber bulb blew on my tail light and I was considering to get the clear bulbs to replace all 4 on the car. What do you guys thinks? Should I do that or just buy the amber bulb?

check your local car lighting regulations first, unless you want to take chances.

Aren't you "mazda323" on clubprotege.com?

ok but besides that legal factor, what do you think about the clear bulbs? I mean they're not as amber as the amber ones (obviously), but the clear ones have a bit of amber in them and it gets rid of the amber color from all your turn signals when they're off. I have the apc red tails by the way.

check these out:
http://autolumination.com/1156_1157.htm
web design sucks but scroll all the way down and they sell silver colored turn signal bulbs. they light up amber, super white, clear, or red. i bought 1156 amber cuz thats what silvania's website said was the type of bulb for the rear turn signal but they couldn't be more wrong. the notches on the bulb dont match the socket on the rear tail light! they are offset like the 7507 or 7225 bulbs. if anybody can verify the actual bulbs used please let me know. thanks.

I have seen these silver colored turn signal bulbs that light up amber on ebay but i'm sometimes skeptical about stuff like this on ebay. As for the offset or whatever, I can't help ya there, I didn't even know that they have an offset. I did however change one of my bulbs to a clear one already and the one they guy gave me at the shop didn't fit correctly, but it did fit. I had to fiddle it a around a bit for it to fit.

turns out that sylvania & just about every auto parts store is wrong. on my 2003 ES, the rear turn signal bulb is 7507, NOT 1156. i verified this by removing the bulb and cross-referencing the bulb schematics on sylvania & the diagrams on autolumination.com. i'll be ordering some silver-color bulbs soon and letting you all know how they turn out. btw, check your local laws, VA state law requires red or amber only as rear turn signal color! red/amber also for the front, but you can get away with white.

Cool, let me know when you get them and I'd like to see some installed pics if you don't mind.
