aftermarket alarm help

My door ajar light is on and stays on dim with the door close or when i'm driving. I'm assuming my aftermarket alarm is powering the light from thru the wire for the door indicator. Does anyone, have this happen. Its bugging me and i dont feel like riping the whole alarm out and inspecting the wires. Any help would be great. Thanks

Sounds like you need to add a diode somewhere...

find the dorr trigger wire and get a multimeter and see if you get 12volt when the door is open and closed.

I havent traced the problem yet, due to bad weather conditions. I'll try this weekend. I'm pretty sure the diode would work, because the door trigger also controls my alarm indicator light. I'm so lazy, i'm a computer/electrical engineering student and i'm here asking for help. LOL i'm a lazy ***. Hey Karen, if i firgure it out i'll drop you a line on how to get rid of it.

I bet my electronics guru can fix it...I just haven't even brought it up! Perhaps because the car was out of sight/out of mind for so long.

when did u first notice that the door light stays on, and how long has it been goin on for?also, what is the weather condition in your area?

the reason i ask is because the exact same thing happend to me as well. i just came back from a trip to vietnam, left my car out in the snow for a month with no one touching it.. The first day i came back to start the car, i see the door ajar light staying on even after checkin every single door! it went on for about a week or so, then the weather got better, and i guess car got used to me driving it everyday, and the light just disappeared!
i'm not sure what the cause of the light to stay on, Maybe from the alarm, but maybe u should try waiting for a bit to see if it does finally shut off..

well my suggestion is just leave it for a bit longer til the weather gets warmer, it should dissappear, if not then get it checked out!

I'm half vietnamese and chinese, i went down south to many cities, mainly in Ha Tien, then Rach Gia, Saigon, and also toured around Dalat and Nha trang

I'm chinese, but most of my family is vietnamese-born chinese. We speak both vietnamese and chinese. I spent most of my time in Siagon and Vung Tau. Been to an water amusement park, i think in Nha Trang not sure. went to Cu Chi but stayed mostly in Vung tau and Siagon.

Check your door switches - is one stuck 'in'?

well with my alarm, dei 564t, the door ajar light stayed on whenever i pulled the fuse for the alarm when i was serviceing my car. with that said that was the only time i noticed that light on, bugged the hell out of me until i relized that that only occurs when the power to the alarm is unplugged
