2) if you say you're showing up around 1:00, why should anyone be expected to wait until 3:45?
and in dominick's defense, if anyone knew you were coming at 3:45 someone would have waited. not everyone went to VA. hell, i would've waited to see 15 miatas. in fact, there was one miata owner who came down from NJ. very nice guy, too. i'm sure he would've waited, too.
I can only hope that you learn by this poor experience, and can use it to put on better shows in the future.
But never, EVER, expect anything in the future from the CAR or PACE Miata clubs.

Dom, that e-mail was sent over three weeks ago on March 28th.
I sent one April 17th telling you that I thought there'd be at least 8 from our group, but didn't know how many total. Turns out we had 16. And then another guy and his wife pulled up in an RX7 while we were waiting.
I also reiterated that I didn't know how long we'd be at the other event, but that I thought we might be there around 1:00. As it turned out, we got running late, and then had to deal with holiday traffic back up to Maryland.
I'm sorry you feel you got burned because your promised 15 Miatas didn't show up, but we were there. If you wanted a definite, on-time showing, you should have specified that to everyone. Tell the entrants that all the show cars are to be in place before the show opens or something. The RX7 guy even filled out one of the registration forms, and couldn't believe you guys weren't there.
My point is, if you're going to run a show, at the very least, have time parameters. If we'd have known that the show was 12 - 2pm, we'd have been cool with that, known that we were running late, and known we had missed the show.
But to just leave "whenever", is really not a good way to do things. The promoters at HIN or Carlisle don't just decide to leave when they're tired of being there. They tell you what time the show is starting, and when it's ending.
I think it's great that you're trying to get the Miata community together like this. I really do. I even know a few people in the business, and would be happy to refer you to a few people who would probably help you with the planning of future events. I just think this one wasn't thought out 100%.

I'm sorry that all you miata guys missed it. I hope that wont deter you all from attending other meets. I know I was interested in seeing your cars. Too bad I didnt get to.
I guess we all have to learn from this experience and organize a little better next time. It wasnt a bad turn-out at all. Maybe the next one will be even better with "all" of us!!!

yep
it was a very nice turnout for the first mazdatunning meet. it was great to see and put faces to all the names on the board.
yeah i think its been summed up already pretty well concerning the late miata group. if anyone knew you were coming at 3 45 4 everyone would have stayed. as it was there was a chance to roll down to VA in a big group and attend a 300 plus car show and show some mazda power.... that was a chance that we didnt want to turn down!
with each time an event happens it will get smoother and have more people and things to do. for a first time meet it was really nice.
as for getting lost.. well it happens and it seems to be for the best. somone said the cops showed up at the park and were giving the guys lots of problems.
if anyone knows more about this i would like to hear about what went down there

I'd just like to thank the Mazda Tunning Mag people for setting up this get together and getting the ball rolling on what should be a great magazine. You guys were really cool and I had a good time shooting the **** with you on Saturday. I was impressed with the turnout for the first in what should be many many mazda meets. Hopefully, the Miata camp will continue to show up at meets, despite this weekends miscommunication.
Dom,
Can you setup a list with name, email, cell phone, location, and type of car? Networking is key.

Sorry guys, didn't know that it was just a photo shoot. Since I saw the initial posts about this, we all figured that it was a "show", since at one time there was talk of vendors and registration forms.
From what I've seen of the pics, it looks like you guys had a good turnout, and as a Mazda enthusiast, I'm sorry I missed it.
In any event, here are a couple pics that we took to add to what you guys have:

I'm really, really, sorry you miata guys missed it. I wanted to see your cars SOOOO bad. Especially the silver miata that was at EIP with the few of us Mazda guys (your car is awesome )
Anywho, I hope this experience won't deter you from coming to the futur MTM meets. I realize that you all came from far expecting to see a show. I would have been very disappointed also.
Peace.

Yep, that was Mike. He came with us on Saturday too. Since the dyno day at EIP, one of his Volks was bent in a recent accident with the Miata, but he has also since installed a new FM2 turbo and intercooler from Flyin' Miata. He's currently keeping it at around 7psi, but I think he'll soon have it at full song somewhere around 12psi where the turbo's comfortable. At that point, he should be running somewhere around 250hp at the wheels.
I remember seeing your Protege at EIP as well. Sounded (and looked) real good too. What did you end up dynoing at that day?

But yeh, I've been keeping up with his car a little or at least trying to. I wanted to know what he was running with that turbo.
