Where to get camber kits for proteges

Hey guys does any one know where I can get my camber kit for my 99 protege. And if you know where I can get please tell me the price for it. THANKS.

Are you sure that you need a camber kit?

Your car's camber *should* be correctable without changing anything, unless something is broken or you've lowered your car an insane amount (like 2"+). Proteges don't gain much camber when they're lowered.

Hey well is it maybe that I havent had my car aligned. Because if you see my tires the inside of the tire is almost gone while the outside still has some left.

Your tire wear is probably caused by excessive toe-out, not by excessive negative camber. Toe-out will kill tires much faster than camber will.

Keep in mind that camber will wear out the rubber all the way across the tread. If the tires are only significantly worn right at the inside edge, that's toe-out.

You've got that backwards. Camber will only wear a single side of the tire (with excessive camber) while toe will wear across the entire tire.

OK, I said that wrong. Camber will wear out one edge of the tire more (the inside edge in the case of negative camber), but the tire treads will be evenly flattened all the way across. Toe produces a "sawtooth" or "feathered" wear pattern, like this:

The wear pattern on a car with very misadjusted toe will be much more severe along one edge of the tire. In other words, if one entire half of the tire is flattened but the tread blocks look normal, the problem is camber. If one edge is completely worn off and the rest of the tire is "feathered" but still has plenty of tread, the problem is toe.

Did that make any sense?

I agree with the gentlemen above and don't feel that camber kits would be necessary. However if you feel they are we would need to know how many degress of camber you need. Based on that you will know the cost of such a thing.

If you need more than a degree or so of camber then you'll need camber plates which will run you around $250.00 I believe. If you can do with around a degree of camber then camber bolts/cams should do the trick and those are only like $25.00 at most.

Hope this helps. If you need help with getting them I should be able to help you. But I will ask the same questions that the gentlemen above are asking in hopes to save you some money in the end.

Just noticed that you have intrax springs. I'll look up the drop on them tommorrow and evaluate what you might need. When did you put the springs on and how long has it been without the alignment?

THANKS to everyone. carguycw that website you posted help a lot and I actually learned new things. And Rishie I have had the springs now for about for about 3 months and I drive about 40 to 45 miles a day. And I know that this is going to sound stupid of me but when I bought new tires that was the last time that the car was aligned and the tires now have about 23,000 miles on them(Bridgestone Potenzas). But let me tell you that before I put the springs on the tires tread was equal all around but since I've had the springs on the car it started eating the whole inside of the 2 front tires the back ones dont seem to be suffering at all. I hope that all of this info helps.

i have the exact same problem. if this can be fixed with just an alignment, i will be in heaven. i also have the intrax springs and mine wore to hell on the front insides of the tires, but a little on the outside too. the back isn't really affected. i had plenty of tread in the middle, but the edges were shot. the drop on those springs is about 2". i just bought new tires and had them put on, so i want to find out what i need to do to prevent this from happening again.

OK, if the Intrax springs lower the car that much (2"+) it's possible they're creating a camber problem. I wasn't aware that these springs were that low. Most other springs aren't low enough to cause trouble.

First thing I would try is camber (or "crash") bolts, which cost ~$2.50 each from Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development (you need one per side). They recently stopped selling parts to people who aren't registered for their Team Support racing program, but you may be able to get the part number from Mazdaspeed and order the bolts through regular Mazda parts channels. These bolts, plus the car's stock adjustment range, should get the camber to less than 1.5 degrees negative.

hey benf000 I'm almost 100% that the intrax springs for the pro drop it 1.5 inches all around.

And by the way benf000 I was checking out your car pics and the car looks hot. Not related to the camber problem but I was wondering what have you done to the car.
