I would HIGHLY recommend the Eibach Pro Kit. the drop is moderate...and the ride remains pretty nice....it will actually lower the car such that the gap above the front and rear wheel will be even. The springs can be had on Ebay, if you like going that route for about $165 to $185.....or you can order them from a reputable shop for about $200.

IF you have a shop do the install for you....figure on somewhere between $150 and $200 for the install.....

and if that shop doesn't do alignments....which I actually recommend you wait a week between the install and the alignment for a little settleing of the springs.....that will run you another $50 to $80 bucks...depending on where you take it.

I did my install myself. took me 3 1/2 hours.....the only special tool you need is a spring compressor, which you can usually rent for about $10 from an auto zone.....

then I took me car to my dealer, had them align it....cost me $79.

$200 is just for the springs.....not sturts.....there really are or has been two choices for aftermarket struts for our cars...either the adjustable Mazdaspeed struts...which are no longer imported into the USA...or the struts that come on the new Mazdaspeed Protege/came on the MP3....same strut. Those will run you about $500 for a set of four...you can get them from your mazda dealer...or check out Mazdastuff.com its a dealer in Austin Texas but they sell stuff over the net cheaper then if you walked into the showroom. go figure. and if you live outside Tx...then you don't pay sales tax on it either.

Sure I have a pic of my car with the springs on.....

don't think about it ... Just do it ...
You won't regret lowering you Pro... Just don't go to low.
As pseudo said ... Protege's run out of suspension very quickly
