Question Suspension or Exhaust?

Hey guys,
I have a completely stock 02 Sedan except for a drop in K&N Filter. I've been waiting to get a cat-back exhaust system and I think I've decided on either a Racing Beat or Bosal System. However, as I get closer and closer to having the funds to get an exhaust, I'm wondering if I should forget the exhaust because I don't expect too much hp from it anyway, and save up some more and go for suspension upgrades instead, something like H&R springs and MP3 struts.

I know someone's going to say it depends on what I really want, but I just want to hear some opinions to help me think about it.

Thanks a lot
BTW, this forum rocks!

I'd lower the car (correctly) before I would do the exhaust. I've driven the sedan that has been lowered and you can absolutely tell the difference. With the exhaust I doubt the difference would be dramatic. And the car looks kick *** lowered

But it is up to you.

well the thing is, if you want to do a suspension upgrade, you probably want to everything at once, springs, struts, sway bars. Assuming you use the best parts available for each, that could easily cost you $1000+.

let's wait for the 'experts' opinions

Yeah, I think four struts is around $600 if I'm not mistaken... You could get the exhaust AND the Eibach Pro Series springs for less than that. That's what I'd do. Wait for your stock struts to wear out and replace them then... about a year down the road after you've got more money saved.

lowering the car would be the first thing to do in my opinion. decent springs are about the same as the Mazdaspeed exhaust, and I think the car looks better lowered than with just an exhaust. Unless you want sound or appearance, an exhaust is pretty much worthless. Springs would give you appearance and some better handling performance for the same price.

I say go for springs AND the shocks. even if it's the mp3 shocks. You would feel more difference with the suspension upgrade rather than just an exhaust.

I agree with everyone else, do the suspension! You will really like it. The first thing I did was replace the struts, springs and rear sway bar. I really felt the difference! I have the Tokico MP3 shocks, Eibach springs and 19 mm rear sway bar. I paid about $900 for everything and did the install myself.\The exhaust cost about $400 for just 4-5 HP.
