last time i called they said they were out of stock on them. this was around november though.

not sure if they have them back in stock.

as to the modifiying part - no idea. probably something to do with cruise control.

i drive a 1999 LX 1.8L WITH cruise control and got the MP3 bar ... it set me back about $400 canadian (you need to move the cruise control assembly with new brackets).

umm, it was pretty pricey but i don't regret it.

no, a strut tower brace is a definete "upgrade" not a ricey "look at" part. Although design and construction, can blurr this easily....

yeah the corksport bar is WAY cheaper (in price) - $59 US - so roughly about $100 Canadian.

MP3 Bar - i paid $400 Canadian from the dealer for the brackets, bar, nuts, and new assembly to hold the cruise control.

i'm not sure what the corksport bar includes though

the cork sport one is around $60 and needs mods. but i found one at racing beat that is $150 and requires no mods. I think im gonna go with the racing beat one.

there's a post from a guy on the protegetech.com message board about the 1.6L engine and the corksport bar and the problems it has here:

question re installing strut bar

didn't get answer in the 3rd gen section, so might as well ask here. I got all the pieces for the Mazda strut bar kit w/ cruise, and planning to install this weekend. One question though, when I install the brackets that the bar will sit on onto the strut towers, is there a specific torque value I should follow when I tighten the nuts that will hold the brackets, or do I just tighten as tight as I can?

thanks

I have the CorkSport bar, and I'm happy with it. It improves steering response by tightening up the front suspension and chassis. I had to trim the cruise control bracket a bit, not hard at all.
