Rear disc conversion idea
#31
I thought there was a list in here somewhere showing EVERYTHING needed for the swap, and it was quite a list indeed. Master cylinder, hubs, e-brake cables, prop. valve, discs, calipers, brake lines, and on and on. I did learn from auto-xing my 02 DX w/ rear drums that properly adjusting the rear brakes (via the handbrake cable adjustment) makes a huge difference in brake feel and stopping distances. It's been my experience that 90% of the cars out there don't have the e-brake cable tight enough, resulting in the back brakes not doing their share of the workload. When the fronts have to do all the work, the brakes feel really crappy. The e-brake should only come up 5-7 clicks, MAX. If it's coming up more than that, your back brakes are slacking on the job.

Currently I'm almost done with parts for my conversion. I have 5 lug hub assemblies, mp3 calipers, brembo rotors, axxis pads, mp3 master brake cylinder, stainless brake lines, 5 lug wheels, i just need tires, and the e brake cable and shoes now, then ill start the work. I have 2001 lx with 4 lug front discs and rear drums. I have a feeling the rears are going to be a pain in the ***...

the 4 hubs, calipers, and master cylinder i traded for a piece of jewelery (say maybe $500. the pads and rotors cost $ 350. the stainless lines were priced from corksport. I got steelies from tirerack.com $ 120 for 4. I need tires, e brake cables, and e brake shoes.

Hello,
it possible to swap the drum to 4 lug disk
you can see the tread from canadian french forum
http://www.clubprotegequebec.com/php...pic.php?t=4744
Il will translate for you
you need this list of part from P5:
spindles, calipers, laterals links, hand brake cable, brake line
from your car with drum you keep this list of part:
hubs with nuts and caps
you dosen't need to change the master cylinder or protion valve or booster.
the disk came from 323 jdm cost 65$ from mazda motorsports
you need modify the spindle from P5 to fit in your 4 lug
Also need also make smal space to put between the hub and the disk.
For the disk the person did the swap look also if can found disk from miata are the same spec
if your go to the tread in french forum you will see the person change the rear crossmember. He changed because all the part for the brake are atach to. You dosen't need to changed because the P5 and sedan car with drum have the same crossmember.
