probably the best handling protege I've seen is DaveB's automatc P5. Here's his set-up

Tokico Illumina Struts
Eibach Pro Kit springs
AWR 21mm front sway bar
AWR 19mm rear sway bar
AWR adjustable endlinks

Seems like a lot of work but he frequently races his car in auto-x and I've seen video footage of him out cornering a few porsches and a corvette. It REALLY makes the car stand out in a turn. He doesn't much straight line speed but he's ******* everyone in the corners.

I have skunk2 coilovers, sturt bar, and i had the racing beat rear sway bar with custom mounting bracket and custom made endlinks which i sold. Corners really good. The ebay shifters are ok, they do the job. I have an OBX short shifter from ebay, i had to replace the C clip that holds the shifter in place, the one that came with the kit was crap, made my shifter fall thru the floor, other then that it ok. I wish i would have save and boought the adjustable one.

AWR makes two rear bars, a 19MM, and a 21.5MM (the stock rear bar is 15.9MM DX/LX, and 16.0MM ES/P5 --so if you were planning on turning your DX/LX into a handling monster by adding the rear bar from an ES/P5, the difference is .004", about 2/3's the thickness of a single sheet of paper). The only larger front bars I know of are Racing Beat/MP3/MSP.
